Sound: The sound on the album... Well, it's old Black Metal, so the production isn't really good, but hey, that was the idea in old BM! If you are not a fan of Black Metal, you are going to hate the production, since it's really raw and the guitars are quite difficult to hear well in some parts, but all BM fans will love this album. The vocals on this album are also much more brutal than on the other albums (better in my opinion), and that also makes this darker than other Immortal albums. // 8

Lyrics: Unlike most of Black Metal bands, Immortal's lyrics are not full of Satan, Hell and stuff like that. Lyrics about ice, snow, wintery landscapes and of course darkness are much more original, and have been Immortal's trademark since the beginning. The lyrics are nothing special, but are more interesting than usual Black Metal lyrics, because they have different subjects. // 9

Overall Impression: Just like with almost every band, the first albums are the best, and I think Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism is Immortal's best album. With it's raw production and brutal vocals, it creates really dark and heavy atmosphere and is one of the best old Norwegian Black Metal albums ever released. The best songs are "The Call of the Wintermoon" (which has the legendary video) and the epic nine minutes long "A Perfect Vision of the Rising Northland", which is one of the few Immortal songs to feature acoustic guitar. This is a must own album to every Black Metal fan, and if it were stolen, I would buy a new one immediately. // 10
