Sound: John Prine does it again with this album. It's a beautiful example of what John Prine can really do with his musical abilities. The majority of the songs on this album have a Folk/Country sound. Some songs are as simple as an acoustic gutiar strumming four cords while Prine sings along; while others are filled with gutiar, bass, mandolin, banjo, violin, dobro and drums. You really get a sence of the mood in every song. Prine really makes sure you feel the same way he did when he was writing these songs. // 10

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics throughout this album were incredible. John Prine really has a way with words and the way he presents them. Many songs on this album seem to be based on people or just real life experiences. "Billy the Bum" is a song about this bum that wants nothing else in life but a friend. In my mind this is on of the most memerable lines of the entire album. "Now some folks they wait and some folks they pray for Jesus to rise up again, But none of these folks in their holy cloaks ever took Billy on as a friend. For pity's a crime and it ain't worth a dime to a person who's really in need, Just treat them the same as you would your own name next time that your heart starts to bleed. John Prines singing skills certainly can't match up with his lyrical abilities, but Prines vocals sure do fit in with his music. It just wouldn't be the same without Prines gritty vocals. // 10

Impression: Overall this is just one great album, with great lyrics and somewhat great vocals. there's not one song on this album I don't like. It's packed full of great tunes and it's the album you want to buy if your a folk lover. If this CD were ever lost or stolen I'd definitely buy it again. // 9
