Sound: Peter Frampton is often remembered as a 70's pop star, reaching the status of a sex-symbol back in the day. Even though "Thank You Mr. Churchill" isn't greatest hits material, it's an enjoyable, easy to listen record. Some highlights are "I Want It Back", which is a riff-driven song that holds an amazing groovy melody, "I'm Due a You", which sound like a pop-rock song at first listen, but contains a fake ending that delivers a great outro. "Vaudeville Nanna and The Banjolele", the catchy "Invisible Man", "Asleep at The Wheel" and the instrumental "Suite Libertй" are also well-structured songs. // 8
Lyrics and Singing: Peter Frampton's voice still sounds the same after 34 years since the classic "Frampton Comes Alive!". Lyrics material tend to vary, some songs being simple, like "Invisible Man", and others being great compositions, like "Thank You Mr. Churchill", which uses the image of british Winston Churchill, important figure in World War II. "Vaudeville Nanna and The Banjolele" and "Black Ice" desearve a mention here too. Also, Peter's son, Julian Frampton, sings in one of the tracks, "Road To The Sun". Though his voice may be a little annoying after some time, it doesn't ruin the song. // 8
Impression: This is the first Peter Frampton record with vocals since 2003's "Now", with the 2006's instrumental Grammy award-winner "Fingerprints" album in between. Even though it's not Frampton's best work, it's a nice album, with great and regular songs. Being a fan of his music, it was a pleasant listen, and I recommend "Thank You Mr. Churchill" not only for Frampton fans, but everyone that's looking for new rock material. // 8
