Reckless Love
Released: Feb 10, 2010
Genre: Glam Rock
Label: Spinefarm Records

Reckless Love are an 80's influenced band but with a slightly more modern sound and only released their first album in 2010. It is a combination of excellently catchy anthemic chorus, powerful and over-the-top guitar riffs and screaming solos which are as equally over-the-top.

Sound: Reckless Love are an 80's influenced band but with a slightly more modern sound and only released their first album in 2010. It is a combination of excellently catchy anthemic chorus, powerful and over-the-top guitar riffs and screaming solos which are as equally over-the-top. All these (in particular the last two) are features which are lacking in quantity and quality in modern music. Which is a huge shame.

Their debut album, "Reckless Love", definitely shines a degree of freshness and happiness onto the music world but there are strong points and slightly less strong points to the album. Songs like "Love Machine", "Romance" and "Beautiful Bomb" are example of the truly fantastic songs which can be found on the album. However songs such as "Feel My Heat" seem to lack the certain brilliance found in most other songs on the album. // 9

Lyrics and Singing: Olli Herman, formally of crashdiet, has a voice which can range from quite low pitched and rounded all the way to raw and very high pitched. The lyrics in the album tend to be about rock n roll, love and downright enjoyment of life. This more than perfectly fits the feel of the music. // 10

Impression: My overall impression of this album is that if it were released 30ish years ago people will remember them as one of the greats of rock n roll. However it wasn't. But this only reinforces the fact that they are such a great band and if anything, has made them stand out a lot more than would have done during the 80's. The only few bands out there, similar to them are Steel Panther, Wig Wam and Crazy Lixx (and a few others). Both Wig Wam and Crazy Lixx sound slightly over produced and Steel Panther put many people off listening to their music with their lyrics. So all you 80s rock fans, there is still hope and they come from Finland and call themselves Reckless Love. Everyone should give these guys a listen as they are most excellent. Allow me to recommend the following: "Romance", "Born To Rock", "Beautiful Bomb", "Badass" and "Love Machine". // 10

Excellent review! This band is really great, and the singer sounds VERY similar to the singer for Def Leppard, especially on songs like "Beautiful Bomb". Great job on the review Roxxie, and keep it up!
