Sound: Power/Progressive Metal Band Redemption yet again astound the music world with the powerful release of "Snowfall On Judgment Day". Compared to many of their previous albums, "SOJD" really captured the drive and power that the band possesses. If you are a fan of the 7 string guitar in the metal world, then songs like "Fistful of Sand" will have you banging your head for more. Lead guitar player and main writer Nick Van Dyke creates soring passages and breaking rhythms endorsed by some of the best guitars from the company Conklin. The CD seems to follow on the lines of Inner Struggles and heartaches some of the members posses, as well as political standpoints as heard on "Leviathan Rising". // 10

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics of the album match the strength as the ones on the previous albums before it. One thing that the band is great with are their use of words and lyrical passages to display their emotions and thoughts on matters. "What will you say?" is a breathtaking song about past relationship (from what I can figure) and its strong vocalization with the piano-guitar driven melodies really pull your heart into the song. Ray Adler (Fates Warning) is the lead vocalist of the band and although time has taken some tole on his voice he never the less executes splendid emotion to every song on the album, whether it be soft and low like on "What will you say?" or more demanding and uprising like "Leviathan Rising". // 10

Impression: If your a fan of Progressive bands like Dream Theater and Fates Warning then you will definitely enjoy Redemption as well. If I were to suggest one song of the album to show a new Redemption listener, it would have to be "Walls". The start is a fun little percussive rhythm followed by a grooving bass-line, then of course the rest of the band joins in after-wards. I love the lyrical standpoints the most on the album, although the music is very powerful as well. The title of the album "Snowfall on Judgment Day" throws me off a little only because its reference is somewhat hidden from a lot of the lyrical content on the album. For all the prog-heads out there this is a must buy album. But please, don't be afraid to purchase any of their previous CD's as well. // 10
