RadioMuse :
I like it but not as much as Chutes To Narrow, not sure what wins between this and Oh Inverted World though.

I'd definently say that The Shins have to be one of my favorite American groups though. They're just such brilliantly understated songwriters and composers. Their sound just draws you, then grabs you with hooks and never lets go. It's quite amazing.

It's my first time with the Shins and it took me about two weeks to absorb the album. 'Wincing' is now my 2007 favorite I wrote an analysis of 'Sleeping Lessons' in a webboard I frequent.

WakeUpWorld :
Really thought-provoking lyrics, harmonies reminiscent
of the best Beach Boys, Beatles and even Steve Miller (Phantom Limb). Intelligent, catchy tunes. This is another example of why I say the music the of the last 5 or 6 years is the best since the 60's. Not the hip-hop or rap, but the pure, creative originality and quality playing of folks like The Shins, Decemberist, Flaming Lips and Thievery Corporation. I can't stop playing all three of The Shins cds.

I don't understand when people say that one of there first 2 albums is better the Wincing The Night Away? Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the first 2 bot had some great moments, but Wincing knocks them both out of the water in my opinion! An absolute classic album that is still a regular in my CD player (a year after buying it!), the whole album is very listenable, even after many listens, and in Australia and Phantom Limb you have two of the finest songs ever written! I'm looking forward to there next album (due out in 2009), but I'll be surprised if they can bettor this great album!
