Sound: Spitalfield is a unique band. One thing I have noticed about them is that the bass guitar is very noticable in their songs. In some songs, the bass is almost featured as if it were a lead guitar. Also, it sometimes sounds as if the bassist is using a pick rather than his fingers, which gives the bass a much different sound. The bass has more of a popping sound rather than the subtle hum. This can get a little bit irritating, but is probably the only downfall of their overall sound. Everything else is solid. I especially like the drumming. The intro to 'Five Days And Counting' is so good. The drums start of very quiet and progressively get louder until the song actually starts. These guys have talent, but don't exhibit it in their songs. They need to increase the complexity of their material. // 7
Lyrics and Singing: These guys like talking about their emotions, which makes sense since they are an emo group. They sound kind of whiny in a couple of their songs, but it is not to a point that is annoying. There is a lot of harmony from the back-up signers, which compliments the lead singer very well. The lead singer himself has a very nice voice. The lyrics are not bad, meaning they make sense. However, they are not very memerable. Every song sounds pretty much the same as the next, which is not all bad since the songs are good, but gets a little boring after a while. A little variation would help this group out dramatically. // 7
Impression: This band is quite talented, but needs to improve their creativity somewhat. Most of the songs sound a little too similar to each other. This band definitely has potential and should be amazing in their next CD. They stand out in their songs 'Five Days And Counting' and 'Those Days You Felt Alive' but blend into the mix with the rest of their songs. This CD is not bad but isn't outstanding by any means. // 7
