Sound: Squeeze is one of the best bands from the New Wave era that combined many different music styles such as rock, country, and soul but they combined it into great rock/pop songs. East Side Story was released in 1981 and was the first album without their keyboardist Jools Holland. Squeeze replaced Jools Holland with keyboardist/singer Paul Carrack. The album was originally suppose to be produced by a few different producers including Paul McCartney but in the end it was produced by the great musician Elvis Costello. This is Squeeze's best album and included their biggest hit "Tempted." // 10

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are great rock lyrics that are set to the music perfectly such as the ballad "Tempted" is set to soul type music. There is also the country type song "Labelled With Love" that is a slow country ballad. There are also great upbeat songs such as "Is That Love" where the lyrics fit the music great. The singer of Squeeze was mostly lead guitarist Glenn Tilbrook who has a great voice but for the song "Tempted" Paul Carrack's soulful voice fit the music perfectly. // 10

Impression: Squeeze is not as known as other bands from the late 70's and early 80's but they had great music and when this album was released Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford (the leaders of Squeeze) were said to be the next Lennon and McCartney. The most impressive songs from this album are "Tempted", "Someone Else's Heart", "Labelled With Love", "Is That Love, and "Mumbo Jumbo." I love how this album has so many different music styles but they are combined into one unique sound. Some of the songs aren't as great as the others but they are all very good. This album should be recognized better than it is because it is a great rock album. If it were lost I would definately buy it again. // 10
