Sound: Metallers. They never shut up about how punk is crap, and how there are no challenging punk songs, you only need to know bar chords to play them.

Well hopefully, if strung out can ever reach the big time, they will shut the hell up. Because the music here so ryhthmically demanding its astonishing. Bar chords 1oomph riffs and pinch harmonics. But that won't impress shredders, and this is where this band come into there own leauge.

Littered on the album are tons of metal solo's, speedy pentonic leads and pinch harmonics, tapping. Its all here, because these guys were reared on metal, and aren't afraid to use there skill in there punk band.

If you want one track that defines the insanely fast rythem and equally stupid lead, then "Lubricating the revolution" is the best one here. There are other tracks to match it in terms of technicallity, "Cult of the subteranean" is rythmically demanding. // 8

Lyrics and Singing: But technique doesn't make good songs, so fortunatley the sense of melody and the huge riffs binded with the complex and intelligent lyrics. The best songs arguably on this album are "Velvet Alley", "Lubricating the revolution", "The kids" and "An american paradox". // 8

Impression: It would be nice to praise this album as a masterpiece. But unfortunatly, when strung out stray from there punky subject matter and start singing about songs they right for lovers, such as "satalite" they sound little more than a faster, more melodic new found glory. But 11 of the 13 tracks here are gems of guitaring salvation for anyone who likes punk but wants a challenge.

Thats if anyone manages to tab them... // 8
