Sound: Since the early 90's Suffocation have delivered us with some great death metal albums like Effigy of the Forgotten and Pierced from Within. There new album Blood Oath is a improvement production wise from past alums and continues to improve each album as you would expect a band to. The over all production sound on this album is very clean and sounds great but there isn't anything really mind blowing that you have not herd before on any other death metal album. The intros draw you into the songs and keep you listening throughout the song but some of the songs on hear just are not that interesting and don't really stand out. However there are still some great riffs and sick drums on this album. The solos are very average sounding and they all pretty much the same and don't vairy much through the album but thats usually how death metal solos are the strong points are in the riffs and the drums. // 6

Lyrics and Singing: The lyrics are great and the vocals sound better than on any of there previous releases they are allot cleaner and easier to understand. They don't change much during the album but they are still great and add to the heaviness and brutality of the songs. // 7

Impression: The songs that stood out the most on this album where Blood Oath, Dismal Dream, Pray for Forgiveness, Provoking the Disturbed, and Marital Decimation. So overall if your just getting into death metal or Suffocation I would recommend Effigy of the Forgotten or Pierced from Within but if your a death metal or Suffocation fan then this is still a great album to have in your collection. // 7
