Sound: Sweet was probably the most underrated rock band of the 1970's, although they were big in countries such as Australia, Germany, and England in the early and mid seventies. Many of their hit's were produced by Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn. Songs include Little Willy, Wig Wam Bam, Blockbuster ( no relation to the store), The Ballroom Blitz, Teenage Rampage, The 6-teens, Fox On The Run, Action, the Lies In Your Eyes, Lost Angels, Fever Of Love, Stairway To The Stars, Love Is Like Oxygen, California Nights, Mother Earth, and Sixties Man. Their sound blends hippie flower power with soon to be hard rock and a touch of teenage bubblegum rock/glam rock. // 10

Lyrics and Singing: Brian Conolly's natural talent is very much more diverse than much other typical glam music, such as Gary Glitter, T.rex, and David Bowie (although I love them just as much). The lyrics are not typical, and they fit the catchy guitar riffs and simplistic bass and drums. All of the songs have anthem like choruses that often drives on themes like regular teenage life in that era, and girls. All songs have typical lyrics however, the song "The Ballroom Blitz" stands out and is the most well written song on the album. "And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz And the girl in the corner said Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz"
. // 10

Impression: This is their greatest album ( no shock there) but is in comparison with their 1974 masterpiece Desolation Boulevard. It blends their harder, heavier late music pieces of music with the glam/ bubble gum early approach. Sweet's early songs influenced many artists to come, especially in the '80s, inspiring artists like Joan Jetts A.C.D.C, and the Krokus version of Ballroom Blitz, and it and will continue to influence artists because of it's catchy songs and rockin riffs. // 10
