In this DVD you can see that Autopsy are still able to pull off a great show. The sound could have been better, if you compare it to other releases of today, but the raw production really fits the ugly and nasty spirit of death metal.

Sound: Autopsy, known as the pioneers of the death metal genre, released a really convincing live DVD. Since they broke up in 1995 no one expected them to release any material soon. With their 2010 reunion they surprised the genre fans and made a successful comeback. In this DVD you can see that they are still able to pull off a great show. The sound could have been better, if you compare it to other releases of today, but the raw production really fits the ugly and nasty spirit of death metal. It also supports the vibe of a live recording. // 7

Content: This DVD contains a band history video named "A History of Horror," which is very detailed and a pleasure to watch. It is filled with band anecdotes and comments of other genre giants like Napalm Death or Cannibal Corpse. Besides shorter bonus footage like concert snippets of their concerts at the "PartySan," the "Hole in the Sky" and the "Slaughter by the Water" festivals there is a full show of the Maryland Death Feast festival in 2010. The set list for this concert was as follows: 01. Twisted Mass of Burnt Decay 02. In the Grip of Winter 03. Severed Survival 04. Pagan Saviour 05. Disembowel 06. Ridden With Disease 07. Deathmask 08. Destined to Fester 09. Embalmed 10. Human Genocide 11. Fiend for Blood 12. Gasping for Air 13. Deathtwitch 14. Voices 15. Spinal Extractions 16. Slaughterday 17. Dead 18. Dark Crusade For me, as a long time fan, this set is perfect. It contains the classic songs from the beginning of their career and also the best songs off of their latest releases. To top the package off there are the promo and music videos for their newest material included. // 10

Production Quality: As already mentioned the sound could have been better. Todays music production is far beyond the quality of this recording. But then again the music really benefits from the raw production technique. If this DVD was produced like the most modern artist of today it would have killed the atmosphere of the concert. The raw and organic production is also a long term trademark of the band. So the quality fits perfectly. Besides the DVD menu works just fine and is neatly arranged so you can find the right footage in no time. // 8

Overall Impression: I have never come across a DVD so convincing. While watching this I really evolved a sympathy towards the band. It is amazing how everything works together, the dirty production, the death metal vibe and the energy of the band. Another great thing about this release is the amount of material you get, for such a relatively small price. I recommend this not only to all longtime fans of the gore-masters Autopsy, but also to all fans of gruesome death metal. The band made a great release with this DVD and I don't want to miss it ever again!
