Incase you didn't notice, Maiden have 3 guitarists...
Janick Gers gets hardly any mention for his guitar work yet when i saw them at twickenham, his performance was better than Adrian's. Adrian is actually quite a boring performer imho. Not saying he's a bad guitarist, just a boring person to watch

lol at the Priest, I wonder if he went into priesthood just to be the guy that preaches Iron Maiden. And it's Wasted Years not Wasted Time. I'm a bit suspicious of reviews that give almost a perfect 10, I can think of a handful of things that could possibly deserve close to that.

AC/DC (no not my favourite band)
Stratocaster
Frank Sinatra (not my thing but he's damn good)
Rock in general

I don't think this DVD really fits in there does it? Still i haven't seen it so maybe it is a mind blowing thing but, I reckon it's got to live up to Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and that was Iron Maiden + every other legendary metal band as well

I was so happy when they played Fear Of The Dark, it's my favorite song by them. I thought they wouldn't play it because it wasn't within the 1980-1989 timeline. On the other hand my sister's favorite song by them is The Evil That Men Do and they didn't play that. I felt bad for her cause we each had to pay $150 for pit tickets cause we waited too long to buy and they played my favorite song but not hers.

It was so amazing.

I may be a puritan but Gers isn't maiden...the same way bayley isn't maiden. No disrespect to Gers in the slightest but at the Twickers gig I hardly noticed him and when I did he was just twating around with his cable... I'm not even sure they'd plugged his guiatr in.....

no he's realistic - a DVD about iron maiden cannot be mind blowing. it can be boring, however.
who wants to see a film about middle-aged men still trying to be cool?

Have you seen the movie? First off, it's hardly boring, and second, Maiden ARE still cool. The movie is a great look into the lives of a band whose music has touched countless fans all over the world. Some of the movie is truly moving, like seeing Columbian police beating people in line for the show and taking all their food. It's amazing to see people enduring this kind of stuff just to see a band play.

Whether or not you like Maiden, you can't deny the movie is one of the best damn documentaries ever.

No, I think he is jsut talking out of his ass. He said it was for record for one performer, yet it was at a festival. I think he is just very confused.

Saw the movie on VH1 Classic actually...and loved it. i'll probably buy the DVD...

My favorite Iron Maiden songs are Rime of The Anchient Mariner and Hallowed Be Thy name, so the fact that BOTH songs were played was awesome to me. The Preformance of Hallowed Be Thy Name from Toronto was spectacular, and probably the best preformance Bruce buts on in the whole movie (Which isn't saying the rest of the songs are boring, it's saying that Bruce was extra enigmatic for this song)

The movie as a whole is very solid, and it Amazes me how much Iron Maiden is worshiped everywhere in the world BUT America...

I saw this movie at the North American Premiere at SXSW in Austin. It was amazing. I bought it in 2-disc special edition DVD and Blu-ray. It is probably the best Music DVD there is. I've had friends watch it that have never been into metal that are now huge maiden fans just from seeing it once. It really is an amazing film.

First of all, Iron Maiden is light-years ahead of AC/DC. I'm not just saying that because Maiden is my favorite band, but it's true. Angus Young is the msot overrated guitarist alive, Bon Scott/Brian Johnson just scream as opposed to sing, the drummer is horrible and uses the same damn beats every song. Almost all of their songs sound way too similar to the others to the piont where solos are reused wiht a couple of altered notes.

Why are you criticizing the DVD if you haven't seen it? My dad HATES metal of any kind, and he's into more rockabilly type stuff. And yet, he loved the movie. He doesn't like the band themselves, but he respects them for their skill and ifluence and he said that the documentary was very well put together. The movie was a great sight into the what goes on backstage for the life of a rockstar. Read any review of the movie online, they all say that even if you don't like metal, you should see the movie. Please watch the movie and then comment.

I may be a puritan but Gers isn't maiden...the same way bayley isn't maiden. No disrespect to Gers in the slightest but at the Twickers gig I hardly noticed him and when I did he was just twating around with his cable... I'm not even sure they'd plugged his guiatr in.....

Jannick isn't maiden? really now? You do realize that he's been in the band just as long as adrian right????

Darling, this isn't a question of length of service, this is a question of impact on the output of the band...

Think of all the maiden classics, wasted years, flight of icarus, 22 acacia etc, etc and tell me how many Adrian smith wrote/co wrote and the do the same for gers...

Anyway, awesome film! The way they've captured every song is brilliant! A must watch for every metalhead and others too..

I think you will find that in 1988 Iron Maiden played the Montsers Of Rock festival at Donnington Park to an audience of....100000 people.

I think he means the record for the venue/festival. :P

Fuck me some of you wankers are hard work. I wasn't saying I hate Gers, neither am I saying he shouldn't be in maiden and neither am I saying he's shit on stage what I am saying is that Iron Maiden to me is the Iron Maiden I grew up with ie Dickinson,Harris, Murray,Smith and McBrain and even though Gers has been with them since 90 he still doesn't 'feel' like Maiden to me.....and that is my opinion. If ya don't like it ya can suck my cock.....

I find it VERY hard to believe anybody could dislike Maiden if they've seen Flight 666. I mean seriously, for the amount that they have accomplished with such little help from radio and other mainstream media that have popularized so many other bands, you'd think the fellas of Maiden would be at least a little egotistical. And they're not in the least.

It's so ****ing clear that they are the epitome of what metal is supposed to be and have no other goals in the music business besides making fan's lives better by putting on ridiculously amazing shows. If you watch Flight 666 and pay attention specifically to the footage shown in the South American concerts, I honestly can't see a legitimate reason for disliking Maiden.

I am a huge Maiden fan, but there are a couple of things about the above article (and other articles) which bug the piss out of me.

1st, everyone writes that it's only because Bruce is a pilot that they were able to go to so many gigs in such little time. Like they would not have been able to get another pilot to fly the plane. I think the Maiden plane is absolutely badass, but to act as if Bruce is the only person in the world who could fly it seems a bit silly.

2nd, the article mentions that the song "Fear of the Dark" was among those featured on the 84-85 World Slavery tour. We all know how true that is.

I've been dying to see this movie and I missed it when VH1 Classic ran it, so I guess I'll be buying it. Maiden rules!! After we went to see them last summer, a buddy of mine declared, "I'm married with two kids, but now I can finally say that I am a MAN!!"

Up the irons!!!

UP THE IRONS!!!!! I have been a Maiden Fan since 82 and have seen live about 8 times throughout the years. This DVD and tour, which I was able to see 2 times including the last show in Sunrise Fla, simply justifies why I have enjoyed their albums and live shows for over the past 25 plus yrs!! Whether your a Maiden fan or not, you can't deny their impact on the metal scene. If you have seen the DVD then you will understand when you see so many other musicians paying tribute to Maiden prior to the LA show. If you haven't, well then atleast check out that 1 scene and you'll understand too.

I bought both the soundtrack, DVD and Blu-Ray (BestBuy is selling it now.. and I don't even have a blu-ray yet). It really is a great addition to the collection. The picture quality is really good. The fast editing kinda sucks, but compared to 'Death On The Road' it is much better. 'Death' editing was so bad, it is almost unbearable. I wish they would use the multi-angle feature of DVD's.. the only place I've seen that feature used is, umm, adult videos.

Janick is no doubt a good guitar player, but he is a third wheel (or guitarist..). He doesn't really fit in so well. Maybe he adds some song writing inspiration. Personally, I kinda think he is a goof. Watching the video, they don't even show him much. My friends and I debate whether his guitar is even plugged in, and if it is, is it amped?!?! Even in the video, they call him the jester. Heck, the last tour, his guitar spent more time in the air, then around his shoulder :

Anyway, the video is great. They don't make music like they used to, and I'm happy that Maiden is still kickin ass around the world. Maiden is still my favorite band, and Steve Harris is, my friend the bass player, favorite bassist. Most of the songs we jam are Maiden songs.

AC/DC (no not my favourite band)
Stratocaster
Frank Sinatra (not my thing but he's damn good)
Rock in general

I don't think this DVD really fits in there does it? Still i haven't seen it so maybe it is a mind blowing thing but, I reckon it's got to live up to Metal: A Headbanger's Journey and that was Iron Maiden + every other legendary metal band as well
u are so stupid if u say this before u saw the movie, i saw it in theatres and it was MIND BLOWING!!!!!

no he's realistic - a DVD about iron maiden cannot be mind blowing. it can be boring, however.
who wants to see a film about middle-aged men still trying to be cool?
Have you seen the movie? First off, it's hardly boring, and second, Maiden ARE still cool. The movie is a great look into the lives of a band whose music has touched countless fans all over the world. Some of the movie is truly moving, like seeing Columbian police beating people in line for the show and taking all their food. It's amazing to see people enduring this kind of stuff just to see a band play.

Whether or not you like Maiden, you can't deny the movie is one of the best damn documentaries ever.

That's actually scary that people are that devoted, Dethklok style. I love my favorite bands, when go to the ends of the earth to see them, but as so as police start some shit, **** the show. It's time to riot!
Then again, Burque is filled with unruly characters.

I don't see why people dislike Janick. Sure, he's a lot more active on stage than Dave or Adrian, but it's doesn't make him any less of a player. Someone argued that he doesn't contribute anything good to the songwriting, and that's just bollocks. He had a hand in Be Quick Or Be Dead and Wasting Love, possibly the strongest songs off of FOTD besides the title track. He also wrote a lot of the X Factor, which is one of Maiden's most underrated albums. The Whole VXI album is a throw away, so we'll skip that. He helped write some of the best songs on Brave New World, including Ghost Of The Navigator, Dream Of Mirrors and Out Of The Silent Planet. He wrote a majority of the title track on Dance Of Death, which is among the best Maiden epics. Finally, he wrote most of The Legacy, which is hands down the best song on AMOLAD. Janick is a big part of the songwriting, and just because he came into the picture too late to add to some of the classic albums doesn't make him any worse of a guitarist or songwriter.
