Tool is definetly a one-of-a-kind band when it comes to their musical style. With their album Lateralus, they took sound production as their bible. The music video sounds just like the album version although the DVD does contain a remix version.

Sound: Tool is definetly a one-of-a-kind band when it comes to their musical style. With their album Lateralus, they took sound production as their bible. The music video sounds just like the album version although the DVD does contain a remix version by an artist who I believe is known as Lustmord. The remix is long and pretty cool. The sound quality is a lot better than trying to stream the video since I never got to see the video on TV. I would not recommend watching this video before sleeping, it will give you nightmares. // 9

Content: This is the DVD for the music video of Schism. The DVD is not really full of features but then again, it's a music video. Like I said before, it does have a remix. It does contain commentary that will make you laugh at times for its udder strange ideas. I was not expecting this much content for what I thought was supposed to be just a music video. // 8

Production Quality: The video is crazy, it will give you a trip. The visual effects with Tool's standard use of clay stopmotion techniques gives the video an eerie feel to it. There are also many things to watch for in the video that pertains to or references other songs on the album Lateralus. Following these little clues will give you a sense of understanding the whole concept of this album or just how you want to see it. // 10

Impression: This DVD goes well with the DVD Tool released of Parabola. The music video is obviously the most impressive thing on this DVD but the remix is good to sleep to. The case has some cool artwork too. If it were lost or stolen I wouldn't need to buy it again, since I have the video memorized, however I would beat the guy who stole it. But there is always youtube. // 10

i have heard they are making videos for Vicarious, the Pot, and Jambi.


These videos take a long time. The Lateralus ones came out like 4 or 5 years after the CD.

I hate to break it to you but there's no possible way to determine the best tool song...schism might be your favorite song, but tool's catalog is chock-full of masterpieces.

No, the video for the pot that you may have seen was made by a random fan, its not an actual tool video, although it is pretty weird.

I read an interview where Adam Jones said that the vicarious video got stopped because the company helping him went out of business or something like that but hes working on it again, and i no that he also said another video is in the works right now too which would obviously be jambi or the pot.

^Last I heard they had some major money problems with the videos, they had gotten half way through but they won't give adam enough money for it but he is still working on the time off, they don't finish a lot of stuff, I heard a while ago that they were making a live cd but never heard about that for months.

you sir are wrong. I saw this video on MTV at like 3 am in 2001. It was released around the same time as the album. Yes, MTV does play Tool videos, you just have to watch at late night, I even think i remember seeing the "Sober" video on Beavis and Butthead.

Beavis and Butthead did review the Prison Sex video, I'm not sure about Sober. Their review of the Prison Sex video pretty much boiled down to Beavis getting really scared, curling up on the couch, saying that he's freaking out, followed by Butthead saying, "Shut up, Beavis! ...Tool is cool".

I understand that you buy this thingy primarily for the video, but I've seen it so many times already... I would buy it if it were released together with the Parabola vid as a package (they could easily fit on 1 DVD if you ask me), but since this release hasn't got that many extra's it just doesn't seem worth it

Dude, what's your point? The only similarities I can think of is that they don't sound like any other band I know! Oh, and they're both known as being progressive rock bands which is just another stupid & generalizing label which doesn't say anything about the music they make. Tull was a blues band with a flute player which later started to incorporate heavier rock, jazz, folk and synthesizers and longer + more complicated arrangements into their music. Tool is a band with dark & often cynical lyrics, complex but very lyrical distorted guitar sounds and rhythm sections. And I'm only naming these oversimplified characteristics to get my point across, because really, I couldn't think of any bands that sound like a carbon-copy of Tull OR Tool, not even A Perfect Circle for that matter.

So please think again before posting these nonsensical comments or at least explain yourself properly, because no music is 100% original and if you look deep enough you will always find similarities between modern bands and oldies like the Beatles and Zappa and stuff

ive seen videos for music videos for the songs right in two, the pot, and vicarious as well as jambi all off ten thousand days. go to myspace video and search the song title. im not sure wether the songs are actually made/endorsed by the band or a truly dedicated fan took metters into his own hands

it was about 10-12 bucks
not so worth it unless you love their music

I quite enjoy it, i'm a new fan though. everybody found it quite surprising that i hadn't heard a tool song until last year.. well it's not like they get a huuge amount of radio play.
