Price paid: $ 400

Features: The 2006 Dean Cadillac is an extraordinary guitar, all in mahogany, with set-neck construction, a flamed maple top, and a beautiful see-through finish. The crossover between the Gibson Les Paul, Gibson Explorer makes it easy to play this extraordinary guitar; standing up or sitting down. The Grover tuners and the Tune-O-Matic bridge keeps it in tune, while the Dean Zebra pick-ups contribute it to make it an extremely versatile guitar. Although I swapped the original pick-ups with some golden EMG 81/85, it still sounds great. // 9

Sound: Playing through a Marshall JCM900, through a Marshall 1960 cab, this guitar plays everything; with the original pick-ups installed it played funk, soul and pop just as well as country, hard rock, and metal. With the EMG pick-ups installed, it played just as great - even with the Standard Dean Zebra's installed, you're able to squeal as hard as Zakk Wylde does it, splitting the Zebra's creates a great strat-sound, perfect for stuff like "Remember" by Richie Kotzen. EMG's or not, it's extremely silent, although some buzz appears while splitting the pick-ups. // 8

Action, Fit & Finish: The guitar is ready to rock the second you take it out of it's case - the action is not too high, and the pick-ups aren't too close to the strings; although the body is a mix between a Les Paul and an Explorer, it kind of has a feel of SG too it, although the neck feels slightly more like a Les Paul. The binding around the neck and body melt perfectly together, making playing even smoother. // 10

Reliability & Durability: I've been using this guitar for about 11 gigs; the first couple of times I brought a backup, but eventually it became unnecessary - I use Roto 11 strings, and I only need to change my strings every 2-3 months. Only downside might be the stap buttons, which are a bit small, making it hard to find strap-locks that fit. // 8

Impression: I play country, hard rock and metal in the key of Zakk Wylde, and even play in a metalcore band aswell - this guitar does a fantastic all-round job. I will defiantly get some additional copies of this guitar, although it's mid ranged when it comes to price, it plays like it's worth a fortune. // 10

It's heavy; not too heavy, but it contributes a lot to the overall tone - it doesn't break your back while you're playing it.

Sound can be modified on nearly any guitar. Look and wood type for the neck and fretboard are the two big things I look for when it comes to electric guitars.

On a side note, I can't figure out if I like the way this guitar looks or not. I... Think I do?

Who the **** said that person only cares about the shape? Just because that's the only thing he commented on? You're stupid for making base assumptions and then shitting on ppl for it. As for the guitar itself, I wonder how the middle pickup sounds. Although I've seen guitars with 3 pickups, I've never heard a 3 pickup guitar with a humbucker in the middle. As for the body style, it's ok but I think it'd look even nicer if it was flipped, and the top part where the neck and body meet was actually the cut-away part.

i love this questions, my answer is this;

you have to try it out yourself and buy that same guitar you've tested but first, look for things you don't want. if it passed, ask yourself this. does the guitar speak to you enough to buy it?

Got mine, a 1980 Cadillac select for $365, & running it thru a B-52 AT-100 all-tube head, with a Marshall ATV412, and the tone is just delicious. The action is EASY! the weight perfect for me. Can't wait to see how much fun I can have playing with different strings, and maybe a Seymour Duncan pickup set, but the stocks pickups are just too sweet to replace.
