ToBeAGooner :
I just got a reissue for $425 with brand new Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups in stalled. This guitar rages. I have more expensive guitars, but this is my new number one. This blows the water off of my strat, and cuts through better than my ESP semi-hollow body.

Scum_PunkRocker :
Wow. I've noticed a trentd, I used to like humbuckers a lot too, but then I kept yearning for this really bright spanky Jaguar/Tele/Strat tone, and you can't get it from HBs. So anyone who says they love the Fender's trebly guitars that have a lot of twang and spank to them, forget HBs, they're good in some practises, however I think you can get more versitility out of a stock single coil (proof is that a lot of people with HBs wire up a coil tap so they can harness the power of the single coil). BE HAPPY WITH YOUR SINGLE COILS, they don't really feedback as much as most people say, and any that is there just adds to the whole distortion vibe, especilly for punk or any fuzz applications.

I agree, single coils can do almost anything a Humbucker can do plus more

I am currently lookin to sell my Fender Mustang '69 reissue with a deluxe fender gig bag for $400. The guitar is in very good condition it just has a little knick at the very top of the neck. Otherwise it is a perfect play and I have been the only owner. I have since moved towards a more acoustic sound and would like to sell this guitar. I also have 4 digitech x-series pedals that I would also like to sell. Please send me an email if anyone is interested.
thanks all,
Jake

Single coils don't have to hum if you take the time to do some proper shielding in the electronics. Unless you have hot pick ups, single coils should really only hum around florescent lights and TVs.

I'de like to hear a Mustang, for some reason I can't conceptualize how it will sound. It's probably close to a strat/tele but i dunno, I wanna hear it.

RenegadeDave :
Those single coils don't have the output of an HB unless it's a stacked HB. SC's have their place, but so do HBs and the difference is almost entirely preference. I don't need any 'twang' and I've yet to play an SC that will sing like my higher output HBs. If you're really after some balls, an SC isn't going to cut it.

do single coils feedback like a humbucker would or would it just give off a hissing sound...cause thats how it was on my tele custom (HB and SC). wondering if it was just mine...

Give it some radical cutaways and slap in some EMGs then it will be good.

Fender rules!!!! I love these guitars, I already have a Strat and a Tele and want to get my hands on one of these. I love humbuckers, my ESP EX series shreds like hell, but sometimes you just want that warmth of single coils.

i use a guitar with a HSS setup. the bucker for metal and some harder stuff, and the single coils for soloing, blues, rock and roll etc. i would love a mustang with 24 frets, a floyd rose, and a HB in the bridge.

fenderbob1967 :
I own an orginal 1966 fender mustang, also own wasburn accoustic, epiphone, & jackson electric. But with all the faded, dings & pings the mustang is still my favorite. Just has a sound of its own. that I like. Thought of changing pickups, but glad I didn't.

...Stupid. Just buy a goddamn B.C. Rich if that's the sort of crap you like. Mustangs are perfect, gorgeous guitars. Anyone who messes with the vintage vibe just doesn't get it and should stay well away from them.

would love to try one.

fyi, john frusciante uses this in the "can't stop" music video, but doesnt play it cause he mainly uses vintage strats and teles. the producer of the video however thought it looked good, which it did

I keep hearing "the mustang's shorter scale is good for people with small hands" Do you guys thank that it makes it harder for people with big hands to play it?
