Price paid: $ 199
Purchased from: mucisians friend
Features: this amp dissapointed me I thought with a Hughes And Kettner I'd get better quality. it has 2 channels with lead and clean the clean is good I'll admit and it can get very loud, that's the reason I'm keeping it I bought it to use for a jazz band anyways. the distortio or lead is were it slips up the lead channel has no tone so for any music heavier than country or jazz your out of luck without a dist. pedal. the chorus and flange effects are ok but nothin to brag over. the delay is very hard to use. the reverb does sound nice though. // 6
Sound: I use a Ibanez artist series through it and on clean is amazing it doesnt't distort at high volumes if you use it rightand is good for jazz. the distotion however is far from marshell with no tone though the dist itself is good. for jazz it's fine but for my other blues prog. rock styles it doesnt't cut it. // 5
Reliability & Durability: though I wouldn't useit on a gig for tone issues it seems to be built well and does seem tuff enough to handle a small gig if I had a nice dist. pedal like a big muff otherwise I'll be using my Line 6 instead. though I may use it Live for a school jazz band that's nothing I care to much about. // 7
Impression: I've been playin about 2 years and am far from knowin everthing about amps but this doesnt't seem top quality. I also own a Line 6 spider75 that I'd reccemnd first. if it waas stolen I'd probably replace it with something else likea Raven amp which would have been a better purchase. // 4

Features: I actually bought the Hughes & Kettner Edition Blue 30DFX, but that wasn't an option. The features in terms of the effects loop include chorus, flanger, delay, and reverb. It's got a clean channel and an overdrive channel, and you can hook up a 1 or 2-way footswitch if you so desire. There is also a built in back light which illuminates the control knobs, very handy for playing in the dark, which I do often. The 30 watts are more than enough and pack a surprising kick. // 9
Sound: Overall the sound is excellent, even with my Squier Strat. The amp makes the guitar sound beautiful, and I would love to hear what would come out of it if I hooked up a higher quality guitar. My style is usually metal, rock, progressive rock, and alternative, and I must say that it can be used for any of these no problem. No issues at all with the distortion, and all of the effects sound just as good with it on as they do on the clean channel. As advertised, it does give off a very warm tone and plays just as well as any tube amp. // 10
Reliability & Durability: Thus far I have not experienced any problems with it in terms of reliablility. I've only had it for a few days, but from what I collect I would absolutely use it in a gig without any second thoughts. Unless you are just being totally neglectful, I don't think that you will find any issues in this category. // 10
Impression: As stated before, I play metal, rock, progressive rock and alternative, and all of these styles are matched up well with the amp. Ten Years After and Queensryche used these amps for reference. Normally I would not buy anything without testing it, but they had a sale on musiciansfriend, and I couldn't pass it up (63% off of list price). Quite frankly, I don't regret anything about this purchase, and feel as though I would have been no better off purchasing from a local store and testing different amps. It has already convinced me that when time has come to upgrade, I will be buying another Hughes And Kettner. // 10

Features: (note: I use the 30 DFX simply because I didn't have the money at the time I bought the amp, but the two are almost exactly the same, just that the 60 DFX is obviously a bit louder. The price I put in is for the 60 DFX, the 30 DFX was $300). I'm an extremely versatile guitarist. When I walked into the store, I was asking for an amp that has good tone control and variety. Well, the salesman pointed me towards this amp. Now I'm glad he did. This amp comes with 2 channels: Lead and Clean. It does have channel switching. Both channels are very effective. The clean channel can get you some beautiful classical tones, while the lead can have you playing rock and metal. The 60 DFX version (along with 30 and 15 DFX) does come with effect loops. It has one reverb knob. It also has the Flanger, Chorus, and Delay effects. There is one knob that selects one of the 3 and the intensity of the effect, and another knob that controls it's FX level. It does come with a headphone jack. Especially for the price paid, there is nothing else I could ask for from the amp. I mostly play in my room alone or with a buddy, I haven't gotten into band situations quite yet. For playing in your room, this amp is perfect. One thing that seperates this amp from other amps is that even at low volumes, it maintains it's tones. I could have the amp at such a low volume that I could hear the guitar itself better than the amp and the amp would still have a good distorted or clean tone. I would guess that this amp would also be good enough in band situations. No matter what your situation, this combo amp can do all that you would expect a combo amp to do. // 9
Sound: My own guitar is a terrible cheap guitar with single-coil pick-ups. Though I have used various other guitars in the store (including those with humbuckers). I'm a guitarist that can play any genre. I play psychedelic, blues, folk, heavy metal, hard rock, prog rock, prog metal, and so on. Obviously, I would need an amp that can fit any style, and this amp does just that. From clean to lead, this amp does it all. I actually have not turned my amp beyond half way in volume. I keep it at about quarter volume. Though at half volume, my ears are ringing and I'm worrying about disturbing my neighbours. This amp can get loud. As I mentioned above, this amp maintains it's tone at all volumes, from quiet to loud. The clean channel has never gotten distorted on me (well, maybe a touch at the high volumes, but only a touch). I can make a wide variety of sounds with this amp. I can make a distant echoing psychedelic noise, a powerful Dave Gilmour soloing tone, a blood-curling dark evil sound, and your standard adrenelin-pumping heavy metal blasts. I also do various sound effects on my guitar, and this amp amplifies them quite well. The distortion could be heavier on the lead channel though, but I'm satisfied, especially since I use a guitar with SC pups. Overall, the sound and tone of this guitar is great for the price, and it can cover any genre. // 9
Reliability & Durability: I've been only using this amp for about half a year, so I can't say from personal expereince how long it will last. So far, it hasn't even shown a hint of failure, and it came with a 2 year warrenty. According to the salesman, from all of the H&K amps he sold, not one has came back to him broken. He himself has been using this amp for years. He says that this amp is one of the most durable and reliable amps that he has ever seen. I wish I could say from personal experience, but I'll take his word for it (the store I bought this amp from has the best customer service I have ever seen by far, so I'm willing to trust him on this one). // 9
Impression: For at least the 3rd or 4th time, this amp suits any style. There may be better heavy metal amps, but this one certainly satisfies. I've tried out other various amps, and this one is still my favourite. I'm perfectly happy with this amp for the price. If it was to be stolen or something, I would buy it again. I absolutely love it's versatility and it's ability to adapt for numerous situations. My most favourite feature is the whole FX panel. Honestly great stuff. I definitely recommend this amp for any guitarist Who wants a simple combo amp. // 9

Price paid: $ 457.4817
Purchased from: Bootleg Music - Epsom
Features: The Hughes & Kettner 60 DFX is a fantastic Amp from the word go. When you turn it on the control panel lights up in blue which granted serves no purpose but looks pretty cool. It has a clean and lead channel with flange, delay, chorus and reveb digital effects. There is an optional stageboard which is sold separately which is a tad annoying if you want to switch through the channels. In the paper and book covered room of a teenager there is plenty enough power in a 60 watt amp and it sounds simply awesome. // 9
Sound: I play with an Epiphone G-400 with its standard Alnicos it creates very fat sound. I play a range of music from Razorlite to Metallica and the amp is perfectly suited to this. Originally I tried the H&K Matrix100 combo which I had originally set myself ofn getting but it has aparently been recently discontinued due to effects problems. When I tried this I expected that the 40 watts would make a huge difference but was pleasantly suprised when I tested the full volume. The 12" Celestion speaker means that the 60 DFX actually sounds as good as if not better than the Matrix series not to mention louder. The digital effect work exceptionally well and take effect immediately upon changing. // 10
Reliability & Durability: As I only bought it a few days ago it hasn't really been exposed to any excessively brutal conditions. However it did manage to fall out of the car boot on return from the shop and it still produces the perfect sounds it did when in the shop. The only damage I've found on it is a slight tear in the case around the dials which I pressume happened in the shop or when it was dropped. // 9
Impression: I've been playing using a Fender Frontman 15G for the last two years so the impression I have from the Edition Blue might just be from the sudden improvement in power etc. Unfortunately it does not have a warp effect like the Matrix did but I'm sure I can rectify that with a pedal. The amp is easily powerful enough for small venue stage use with the right setup the Edition Blue is perfect for gigs, hearing their sound at a local concert is what grabbed my interest. So whether your a starting out on the guitar or a hardened veteran the H&K edition blue 60DFX will be suited to you. // 9

: Having had it now for almost a month experimenting with the different combinations on the controls I have found several really sweet sounds.
Personally I would say it is worth getting for 280 of course its down to you at the end of the day all depends on what music you play really, I have found a few good settings for playing songs from Metallica to the Chillies.POSTED: 05/28/2007 - 04:28 pm / quote |

: ^that's right. I used this amp today (a friend bought it a couple of days ago). It has a very nice clean tone, and the distortion is great. I'd say this is one of the greatest amps to start off with. The price is around €260,- in the Netherlands.POSTED: 07/05/2007 - 05:54 pm / quote |

: I've been really excited about getting the 30dfx version of this amp for about a week now, but i'm wondering if i should wait for another $100 to come my way and upgrade to this one. I don't play guitar too much, but i think i will after i get one of these amps. I guess, now that i think about it it might not be worth it for me, but i can't stop thinking that it's twice the power for $100!!! POSTED: 07/12/2007 - 05:45 pm / quote |

: The power I find i seriously worth that extra bit of dosh. Like I said up there^^ I'd been playing with the Frontman for the last two years and 4 times the power really does blow you away!POSTED: 07/20/2007 - 04:47 pm / quote |

: so u know teice the power dusnt mean twice the perceived volume but what id be interested in is that the crossover from 30w to 60w goes from practice only to small gig-capeable. im totally stuck on what amp to buy myself. i like versatility but after owning a line6 spider im forever put off modelling amps so i might just go for the 60rPOSTED: 12/11/2007 - 06:11 pm / quote |
