Ace Frehley :
I'm really thinking of buying it.It has a good price, and as i read from all the reviews on the net it has the best clean sound from almost any other. As for the distortion I'm not that bothered cause I'm using my Hot Head pedal which has it's own.

This amp is awesome, bought this not so long ago but it is so loud for a 30. Sound is soo clear and with the right sound and guitar, one of the best studio amps you can buy

where can you buy this? I can't find it on neither musiciansfriend or GC.

You have to go to your Local Music store and ask them about shipping it in or if they have any. They are hand made and shipped from London.

rokrdude :
ok go to humbuckermusic.com and you'll find it for 200$ and if you live in GA you should get it in about 2 days on standard shipping... don't even worry about the footswitch, because even with a balanced cable the light doesn't work. whoevr said this isn't an amp for metalheads is wrong as hek this thing cranks out some sik distortion, but the roker 30 has more(but thats probably out of your budget or you already have a head), the reverb is VERY strong and sounds good (i even like it and im not a reverb person)if you are looking for just a practice amp this is it, or go for the 10 watt, because it has a wee bit more gain. oh by the way i do own this and if you think about buying it or any orange for that matter and don't you should die... it might sound lke im on a user high, but ive had this thing since september, and it even makes my 150$ epi sg scream, in conclusion if you have 200 $ for an amp right now BUY IT!!

can this amp override drums in volume, or at least match it?

So, I went ahead to buy the Orange 30R. It's my first amplifier ever, so I might not be in the best position to give advise. I really do enjoy it though, I really prefer the sound to that of my friends €300 Fender amp which has all kinds of spiffy DSP effects built-in. It's really a stark contrast to the clean and overdrive-only effecs of the 30R, but it's really all you need actually. Having a good clean sound is what mattered most to me, add a little overdrive for some break-out or even more for a Bluesy or Southern tone. Other effects are better left over to pedals etc.

Anyhow, Orange has a satisfied overhere!

clean sound is great. hopefully this can hold me until i have enough money for a real english made orange!

livevil666 :
i bought this amp a few months back, clean sound is amazing, reverb is ace, distortion is average, i just use a distortion factory instead, great value, bloody loud for a 30 watt
POSTED: 07/25/2007 - 05:00 pm / quote |
rokrdude :
yes, this thing will beat drums on like 6. just as a tip...if you have a fender get it they sound sooo good thru these....

fazgaz# :
well im still not convinced....although i know orange amps cant be used for metal...how bout if they had a distortion/overdrive pedal connected..would it make a difference...and actually underoath use orange amps and they have a metal sound also or at a least a heavy sound..
POSTED: 10/01/2007 - 03:56 am / quote |
the fendernator :
easy just use a pedal silly
POSTED: 10/28/2007 - 03:43 pm / quote |
Karrde :
orange amps are actually made in india, only the valve (tube for you yankees) are made in England (because it is british it is obviously so much better than an usa brand)
POSTED: 11/15/2007 - 03:15 pm / quote |
hugh20 :
i'm getting this for christmas in England, what sort of distortion does it have? i'm getting a pedal anyway, just wanted to know.
POSTED: 11/22/2007 - 01:09 pm / quote |
Ca1am1ty :
i think its so loud for a 30 watt because i think orange rates the wattage clean
POSTED: 11/29/2007 - 06:57 pm / quote |
huevos :
fazgaz# said exactly what i was thinking. did Underoath use Orange amps when they started out?
cuz if they did, im pretty sure a good overdrive pedal and one of these babies could produce some convincing metal tones.

side note: im talking about Underoath's first 2 albums (which were deathcore) and most parts of the 3rd one (which has death-metal undertones).

Dweller_26 :
It is loud for a solid state 30W but that's because over here in the UK we rate amplifiers the correct way, RMS clean. so all the gain you add just puts out more power. But people don't forget this is a solid state, i have one of these at home for practice but put it next to my all valve orange head and it's pissy and fizzy in comparison. For what it is and what it costs this is a great amp, just don't confuse the legacy of orange tone with an excellent bedroom amp. you migth be ok for a band practice but to cut through the mix at a gig you need a real amp, unless you're playing your gran's birthday. Also if you're trying to shove high gain distortion through an orange (especially a solid state) you're missing the point, they're all about tone, not distortion. The new thunderverb has the high gain to do metal. If you want metal get something with some metal heritage.

Bought this amp and right when i got it I was diassapointed to find out that the distortion wasnt very greating seeing how I play mostly metal but if u play around with it a bit you can still get a really nice distortion which sounds awesome even when your playing metal. The reverb is amazing sounds so nice. The more I use this amp the more and more I like it I deffinatly recomend buying one and the price is great for one of the best amps out there!

I've had one of these for about 3 days and i love it. I've almost forgotten about my marshal micro stack. but i use that for stereo sound out of my clapton pedal. regardless orange rocks.

Does volume really matter when comparing it to an MG? definitely get this over an MG (but yes, it would be louder regardless of how sh*tty an MG is)

incase no one pointed it out u can get a very heavy sound out of a orange, maybe not metal but underoath uses them and they are heavy enough.

It's a shame it's so weak. I've played on this amp a few times and the quality is superb, but with such little wattage, you would have to mic it and if you don't have a Grade A PA system, you could compromise your sound. I want to see them make a Crush Head or maybe a combo compatible with a cabinet.

If it were stolen I would be highly pissed and if I were to ever find the person who stole it I would subject them to listening to Good Charlotte and watching old Will Farrell movies (I know that is very cruel and unusal punishment but hey I love this amp).

lol thats great. sounds like a good amp, but i wouldnt buy it because i play a lot of metal

I've had this amp for a year now (bought it October 07)and its a great little amp. Alot louder than I expected, alot better tone than I expected to be honest. Bought for £120GBP from Steven James Guitars in Middlesbrough. As was stated many times. As standard, not great for metal. Put a good distortion/overdrive pedal through it and it is great for metal! I'm running it through an Ibanez SM-7 Smashbox using either an Epiphone Les Paul Studio with Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups or my housemates Jackson JS30RR and it sounds fantastic. I'd recommend this combo amp very highly

AlexAvarice, I roughly believe that's your fault for trying to gig with a practice amp.

Okay.... Roland Cube 30x, Vox Valvetronix 30, Marshall MG30DFX, Line 6 Spider III 30, or the Orange Crush 30r?
POSTED: 12/01/2008 - 05:50 pm / quote |
Freedomer :
Yeah or which of these:
Roland cube 20x
Marshall mg15fx
Or this Crush. I really think that Orange would be best because its 30 watts and I can add pedal to it later if I need!

POSTED: 12/02/2008 - 10:24 am / quote |
KeithNC :
all right then. out of all the amps, the Oranges have by far the best looking cosmetics. I don't really like the digital modelling sounds anyways. They all sound cheap. I also heard that the JFET circuit used in the Crush amps are superior to all other SS circuits.

The Crush I reckon. The Cube is a good amp, better if you want heavy metal, etc, but if you are even looking at this and read the reviews I guess it ain't your thing. And the Marshall MG series are plain crap.

You plug a footswitch in there to turn the Overdrive ON or OFF instead of pressing that little button ontop of the amp.

ah thanks man, its been bugging me since i actually got the amp. whats wrong with just calling it a footswitch input?

I find playing anything with much bass on this amp will make the metal plate at the back vibrate, playing loud I can barely hear it, but if I'm playing quietly it's pretty annoying. Other than that it's fantastic, reverb sounds great on this
