The newest VOX amp to honor Brian May's namesake is patterned after the "Deacy," so named in honor of its original creator, Queen's bassist John Deacon.

Features: It was made in 2002. This is the ultimate reissue of Brian's "decay" amp that he used. The amp, following the original is pretty small amp. 10 watts into 6. 5" speaker. One channel with high/low gain option, 1 tone and 1 volume control. It doesn't have a EQ section as in the original, there was no such a thing. The special thing about this amp is, there is a treble booster in the pre-amp just like the one brian use! But most of all is, you can use this little baby to drive other amp (I use it to drive my Vox AC30). // 10

Sound: I am using Gibson Les Paul, and a Xplora with EMG 60/81 through this amp. I play punk, classic rocks etc. There is an immediate hum straight after you turn it on, quite noisy to be honest. But when you use it to drive other amp, the problem is gone. In term of sound, both guitar (with totally differnt tonal characteristic) sings more or less the same sound! You can easily get the Brian's signiture sound in the high gain channal. In the low gain, you are hardly get a good clean sound out of it, this is not an amo for clean. The low gain will crack out some solid old school rocks like AC/DC kinda sound. As this is the Brain's special, it does deliver the true Brain May's sound, and this is the sound that I am looking for, so even there is no clean sound, not versitle, it still a 10 for me. // 10

Reliability & Durability: Don't know as this is new! It looks solid alright and there is a little strap to hole the power chord, a sweet touch! // 10

Overall Impression: I have been playing for 2 years. Have got several amps, I had a Behringer GX 10 and Marshall AVT20 (a rob for what it is), and now I have 3 VOXs (Brian May, AD30VT and AC30CC2). This is special amp, In terms of tonal character, it's thousand miles behind the AC 30, in terms of versitle, it's no way getting near the AD 30 VT. But it has something that other doesn't. It's special. If this baby was stolen, will definitly get another one, but there are rare in the market. Hard to get one! // 10
