Ease of Use: This Ashton distortion pedal comes with a 10 page instruction booklet that tells you everything you need to know about how to use the pedal. All you need to get going is a normal 9V battery. The imnstruction booklet tells you some basic sample settings to get a decent sound out of it but the best way to get th esound you want out of it is just to fiddle with it for a bit and you'll get it after a while but then write it down you don't want to have to do it again. However it only has three knobs so it's not exactly like you have to take a degree in effects pedals before you can use it! // 8
Sound: I have a Yamaha Pacifica 012 and a Peavey Raptor Junior and it works fine with both. It gives a great steady sound and can be very noisy if you want it to be, so if your planning on using it at a major concert don't worry about nobody being able to hear your face melting guitar solo. I found that it could mimic the sounds of my favourite bands pretty well, just as long as you know the settings, otherwise you can get very frustrated trying to get the settings just right. I find it works well with the Ashton CR30 chorus pedal aswell makes a really good sound. // 7
Reliability & Durability: I have already taken it to one gig and have had no problem with it. It's reliable and as for how long it will last, it seems like this thing's going to be here until the end. It has a sturdy metal case and a metal footswitch. It runs of a 9V battery but also can be hooked up to the mains if you have a 9V AC adaptor. The battery will last pretty long though, it is only activated if there is a jack plug in the input socket on the pedal otherwise no power is supplied to the pedal, it's quite clever and just shows that thought went into the design of this pedal. // 8
Impression: I play varied styles of music that include: Blues and Rock and I find that it with most things that I play. I also have the Ashton CR30 Chorus pedal and find that together they make an essential for any guitarist. Most people think about DigiTech or Boss when looking for pedals but Ashton pedals are just as good quality and cost half the price. I have faith in Ashton products and think that in a few years time they will be uop there with companies like: Gibson, DigiTech, Boss, Fender and Jackson. // 9
