Price paid: $ 30

Purchased from: American Musical Supply

Ease of Use: The Behringer Distortion-X XD-300 is a pretty basic stompbox aside from the relatively unconventional controls (level, punch, contour, distortion). One nice thing is you can usually get a totally new sound just from tweaking the contour knob which basically is a mid-range sweep. // 8

Sound: The pedals sound is somewhat similar to a Mesa Mark II C++ making it great for songs by bands like Metallica and most other thrash bands. It does not have any problems with being mixed with other effects such as flange and delay. Used with Digitech's CIT Cabinet modeling again, it sounds like a C++. // 8

Reliability & Durability: Reliability is the only place Behringer slacked off. The pedal is made out of plastic which makes it easy to break, although I have not had any major problems with it. I would not be comfortable touring with this pedal unless it was rack mounted for protection. // 5

Overall Impression: Overall it is a very good value and I would recommend it to musicians on a budget who want thrash/heavy metal sounds. The pedal is unique and I am yet to find another stompbox that sounds quite like this one. I do not recommended touring with the pedal but in the studio or practice room it is great. // 7
