The built in tunere is a must. I bought this thing for 20 bucks on E-bay and it was the best decision i have made since.

its a great pedal all my friends and there friends that played guitar had this pedal, so i thought since alot of had them that it would be great. and it is and even if someone pays the while price, which is like 99 dollars, it is still worth it cause it has a built in tuner and 80 effects but 1-40 is the same as 41-80. but you can mess with 1-40 and changed them to whatever sound you want. and it has helped with guitar and i love it.

it's great, some better distortions would have been nice, but I don't care that's why i have the singe effect stompboxes, but sometimes i'll use this pedal's distortion just because a few of them are REALLY sexy.

The best thing I love about this pedal is that you can plug any volume pedal into the Control-In input (from the Control-In to the volume pedals output) and use it like a normal wah pedal (Crybaby, Botique and Full Range wahs) and also use it with the Whammy effect like a real Digitech Whammy pedal (which cost about $500 for an actual Whammy pedal)... Of course, this doesn't sound quite as good as the real things (the Whammy pedals have more options) but they're still very effective

i might consider getting this pedal for practise purposes (ok, maybe a recording session or two) and i wasjust wondering if it only works on some cabs, becausemy practise amps are Peavey Backstage (26 Watt) and a Silvertone Smart III (26 Watt)

Are you sure the RP50 has a built in tuner? Or am I just completely ignorant with my peddle? I've had it for about 3 and 1/2 years. It was just the other day I finally bought a GNX3. Are you talking about the new models? Cause mine might be the old one. None the less, AMAZING peddle for the price and it does last an INCREDIBLY long time.

JakSunPlayr :
It's a great pedal to leave at work with that beater guitar you might have for playing and practicing during lunch thru headphones. Use that more expensive GNX4 for home and gigging thru the AMP and stack.

Do not gig with any of the RP digitech gear. If you leave your foot on the pedal a 1/2 second too long you could be like 20 effects past where you want to be. NOT fun, I was playing a cover of How you remind me by Nickelback and I was trying to go from distorted to clean and I put too much pressure on the pedal and I ended up doing some autowah effect versus clean, that pretty much killed the song right there! This thing would be better off as a boat anchor, although it's probably not heavy enough for that. Mine is used just for tuning now and that's it. I have the RP200A.

I hear that this is what the artist Buckethead uses while playing "Jordan"!

Cool for practicing but I wouldn't recommend it for a gig. I used it to cover Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day and I had to be switching really often to get on the right effect since it slips down a lot. Still a good purchase for a beginner

Price paid: 60

Purchased from: Musicians Friend

Ease of Use: This is a very easy pedal to use. When I first got it, I was a little confused as to what each effect was and what it sounded like. But after you get the hang og playing it and get the sound of each effect, you can make some killer effects. It has 80 effects, though 40 of the are pre-set. So that gives you 40 effects to edit and mess with. And whats best is, if you ever want to re-set it back to factory settngs, you can!

Sound: I use a Dean Markley 40 watt amp, and a Harmony Stratocaster. It sound sreally good.

Reliability & Durability: It is a very durable pedal, I have knoced it off before itit is still going.

I recomend that everyone purchase this pedal. It is a really good unit for the price.

Who says the auto ya is useless?

Ever heard "Yai Yai" by Steve Vai? It's perfect for that

Just to note, after reading a few of the reviews, they do make the Rp50 with an expression pedal for a little more money, you just didnt get it. THis does have a pedal becasue it is ment to be cheap...

RP 80 is the RP 50 plus a couple more effects and an expression pedal. it's decent, i grew bored of it... decided to buy seperate pedals, keep in mind i got this when i was a beginner and just never upgraded anything. as soon as i got a good amp i got a boss od-3 for 25 bucks, i had a wah to begin with, and i got a russian muff along with my fender fm 212 r it's a great set up... for my style at least. the rp 80 is good, it gets pretty boring kinda fast but for the money the rp 50 is probably worth it.

Key8Lime8Pie :
My buddy has the RP80 which appears to be the same exact pedal with the edition of an expression pedal. If I am wrong please do not hold it against me. The RP80 is a pretty solid pedal. RP line up from what i have observed (my other buddy has one of the more expensive ones) is a pretty decent. I would recommend them for starting guitarists. especially those who are into the heavier distortions. There is a very cool organ distortion on the RP80 that i like to use at my buddy's place.

i don't stand alone then. Like I said before. it is decent for starting guitarists looking for some good effects to kind of feel around what styles they like etc. it provides a good variety at a low price.

my RP50 tuner is slightly broken as in it thinks E is F and A is Bb and so on. I also find that it does not have a very good clean sound and does not change to a new effect straight away. You are probably better off with single effect pedals

good cheap pedal, sounds a bit artificail but if you want better sound u pay for it- gr8 for beginners as it has just about everythin ud want

I had been playing in a well known gigging local band for awhile, and I was just running a Ds-1 into a no name half stack. I picked up the RP50 plugged it in at practice and it just sucked. The worst thing I have ever purchased. Save up the cash by a floor pod, or me50

its so noisy when plugged into a powerful amp! other than that i love it. Perhaps a noise suppressor is in order.

how about the acoustic simulator? hey people out there!!can you give me feedbacks regarding this? i cannot make it sound like an acoustic.

Go to the amp section and just keep on scrolling until you hit acoustic, and then just punch it in.

this thing is pretty sweet for it's price. I asked the guy if there was any difference between the rp50 and rp90 and he said 'no' so (in australia) you're paying an extra $120 for an expression pedal. If you already have a wah, settle for the rp50 and skip out on the rp90. The distortion on this thing is pretty sweet too, got some nifty little features and crazy sound effects. the autoyah is sick, the reverb, tremolo and all that in my opinion are all up to standards
POSTED: 02/11/2009 - 11:51 pm / quote |
psychoskin473 :
I got this thing for 30 bucks and its the great missing peice to my setup. The only downside is that when you want an effect to come on theres a split second pause that would be rather embarassing if you were playing live with it. Most of the sounds other than the modular and tremolo serve no purpose to me. Some sounds give like an early Nintendo 8 bit sound but dont really have any purpose in music. The reverb and the delay is excellent. If you can find it below 50 bucks definately pick one up

This pedal is awful. My firned has it and it has about 10 good effects. The rest are just shitty versions of of other effects or toneless distortion.Rubbish.
