Ease of Use: It can be very deep if that's what you seek, or very easy & straight forward. The 5 note subdivisions go from 16th note, 8th, note, 1/4 note, etc etc & with tap tempo this is really cool. Getting deeper triangle, square wave modulation can make for some very unique chorused, vibrato & filter swept sounds... beautiful but not that useful for most looking for straight up delay. BUT only TC's Flashback comes close to the analogue subtle delays of the DMBOY. Ease of use depends on how deep you would like to to go with bizarre sounds. Built in pedal expression input would be a trip to do & useful if that's your thing. It takes a little more 'fun time' exploring what's inside. I'd read the manual as it can deliver much more than straight up delay. // 9

Sound: Being a pre U2/Edge delay fan, analog is the delay sound I seek. DMBoy delivers in spades due to it's bucket brigade chip design. Being older, vintage rock, Eric Johnson, Beck, Clapton, Gilmour, is my preference. It suits this music very well indeed. '87 PRS, Strats, Fuchs ODS 30, 18 Budda, the DMBoy sounds great straight in or effects loop. It it quiet, & very flexible, tap tempo, & will do 5 different timing subdivisions. I haven't explored it's "trippy" sounds but they are certainly in there for quite a variety of sounds from chorus delays to bizarre sounds with expression pedal input & effects loop. The loop allows for EQ, dist... really any effect you would like on repeats! The expression pedal can control different modulation effects in real time, which is really cool & rare! Out of too many delay pedals this stays on my home board at all times. Eric Johnson's clean sound is the best example of what it will deliver just for starters. It is warm, fat enough & sounds better than most delay pedals I have owned (a lot). // 10

Reliability & Durability: As many old vintage Electro Harmonics pedals around, they are built very well but not as good as some others. That said, this seems to be stronger, heavier than say Vintage Deluxe Memory Man's & Electric Mistress. I haven't owned too many EH pedals in my long life so no durability experience. But I wouldn't hesitate to take it on gigs if needed, but usually take TC Flashback that takes up less real-estate for vintage rock, blues dance band. It would seem tough enough to take stomping at gigs but it would be overkill for many players in classic rock & blues cover bands. But original music bands could certainly find the wide variety of sounds useful. In fact, it has a much wider variety of sounds than any delay pedal except for Strymon of course. It certainly feels very solid from switches to overall construction & much better than EH Small Clone. // 9

Overall Impression: What most do not know is if you hold this "select modulation" knob down & it becomes a high frequency pass filter... Low notes have very short delay feedback, high notes have more feedback. (I broke down & read the manual is how I learned of this) This is a very unique sound best done by Eric Johnson & "delay EQ." Echoplex, tape delays & some vintage delays do this naturally. I absolutely love this effect for clean sounds, but is may not be for those seeking "perfect repeats" ala The Edge. Playing all my life, & delay pedals breeding on their own, this one stays on my home pedal board for bedroom playing & woodshedding! Built in effects loop input ads a whole new dimension of sounds. Add any effect to delays you like with other effects & is a ton of fun! Expression pedal input gives you real time control of it's wide variety of filter/chorus/wave which would be useful for some. This pedal is the most flexible I have ever owned & the sound is beyond what I expected when I bought it. Would I buy it again? Yes! // 10
