This pedal does have a lot more knob than it's competators but this pedal is tube driven(12ay7) so finding all those extra functions will be worthwhile. That being said all the knobs ae sraight forward, you have compression, pre gain, post gain, speed setting (lamp or led) and mode (normall or squashed).

They put two of their classic transistor '69 plug-in Muff Fuzz effects together in one box, which means double the trouble! Using just one gives you a hint of milky distortion, or cascading the second lets you turn your milk into cream.

The EHX English Muff'n is an extremely easy to use pedal. Merely plugging it in and turning it on will result in warm tube tones out of any amp.

The Freeze is pretty cool. It's small, relatively inexpensive, and can provide all sorts of new, different sounds that might be hard to recreate otherwise.

The Frequency Analyzer is not the easiest pedal to just plug in and play. If you do, you will more than likely like just get some low-fi chaos.

The Electro-Harmonix Germanium 4 Big Muff Pi is an analog pedal with two separate circuits and true bypass. The Germanium 4 circuit is an overdrive using real germanium transistors for that warm "classic rock overdrive" from the 60's and 70's and the Big Muff Pi circuit is a distortion which allows some truly interesting sounds due to the tweak-able Volts parameter.

There are only 3 knobs (Depth, Shape, Rate) and a two way Switch (Square or Triangle wave modes) but this pedal is deceptively difficult to use.

The pedal is pretty direct. You get a single input jack, and two output jacks for stereo output. The outputs are labeled so that you may opt for mono sound by jacking into the top output. The pedal is activated by a single footswitch, the metal button which is featured on many other EHX models.

The EHX Voice Box looks complicated to the naked eye, but once you learn how to work it, you'll love it. There are 8 "Harmony modes" and a "vocoder mode" that can also be made to sound like a talk box in some cases.
