People usually say dont judge a book by its cover but with this im not too sure, I suppose for practice yeah maybe, as for live, perhaps... recording, not at all. Id get the new pod X3 imo.

I love this thing, the only bad thing about it, is if you use a bunch of noise suppresser on the high-gain amp models, it ruins your sustain. Ruins it.

I'd buy a DigiTech GNX pedal. They are amazing. I used to have a GNx1 but I sold it so I could get a guitar, and I sold a bass for an amp. Lol

I love mine, but I'd rather have my friend Boss Me-50...

I might just save a bit more and get the old 2.0, it's only about £20 more and much better

Pocket POD is packed with over 300 custom presets dialed in by some of today's hottest rock stars like Maroon 5, P.O.D., 311, Hoobastank and many more.

shit... convincing isn't it? well... it's sad :|

It's excellent for what it is, compare this to a plain-jane pocket amp, or any other mini-multi effect.

the X3 is a much better purchase if you're looking to record. it provides awesome vocal tools, bass tools, and you can drive 2 amps at once to get an extremely full sound on recordings. this is good if you're lazy like me and don't feel like tracking your guitar 4 times to get a full stereo sound.

this is a really bad review!
this guy has no patience for modeling processors, which by their nature, take hours to figure out. this one actually seemed simple when i used it.
i'm going to buy one.

i have one of these. i think it is a good fx pod for a person new to guitar fx (like me). Unfortunately my ampout jack doesnt send the guitar signal, resulting in no sound. my amp works fine with out the pocket pod attached. I guess im gona have to return mine now.

I bought one of these for deployments to save on weight and I couldn't be happier with it! The reviewer must have crappy headphones, because I use my Sony studio headphones, and I have to turn the volume on the Pod all the way down because it's THAT LOUD! I'm still discovering new sounds on it, and the quality is excellent. I think if the price were around $50, it would be perfect!

It seems a good idea, but a little expensive. If i had money to burn, i might buy one, but i have a perfectly adequate headphone amp for now, so a no go. Good reviews though.

This is further to my review posted above (mine is the first one)...

Lots of bugs being reported on the Pocket Pod. In case you are planning to buy it then do check out the Line6 forums. There are issues on hum, delay, cabinet models, power, the software and a lot of them are genuine (while the rest are just another attempt to disguise an endless wishlist :p ).

But tone wise this delivers, if you take the time to sit through it !

Some people on the Line6 forum were advised by company reps to exchange their pod. So it seems that there are pieces out there which might have bugs.

A software update/patch has been on the asking for months now but Line6 hasnt come out with a firm date for a release.

I would recommend to wait and pick up the updated batch, which I am sure will have these teething issues ironed out.

(And someone suggested that my headphones might be faulty so am going to test it through another paid asap. Thanks)

pocket pod is perfect for me!! I use an rgr ibanez packed with emg pickups and the pod sounds great. I never got such tone variety before and the download free program that line6 provides is awesome, you can actually make your own customized tones with all the features and fx that you can imagine. I can really tell that this box is one of the best in his price range and you should really get it. I use emg's pickups and so the pod sounds absolutely quiet and has no "buzz" ad. Maybe if you use single coils you may notice some noise coming out of the pod ( my friend that owns a fender afinity stratocaster complained about that). I can tell that with humbuckers ( emg's or seymor duncan) you will have no problems. it also may be a bit confusing for begginers to use but you can always get an expression pedal.

Take it for what it is people....a pocket amp.. and for that, it's damn good...you **** around with it for awhile and it's easy to get used to. Basically I just use it at night in the living room and jam with headphones so I dont wake everyone up. Great sounds. I love it!! Just dont drop it...lol!!!

I bought a pocket pod about 5 months ago and I think it was a complete waste of money. The effects are terrible, most of them have way to much distortion, and pretty much all of them sound very, very cheap and they sound as if you put effects on your guitar through something like garage band. Not very good. Didn't come with an adapter and consumes loads of batteries. There are effects labeled off of specific songs: some led zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. They don't sound ANYTHING like the original sounds of those songs. Not even remotely close. I get stellar tone compared to this if I just play through my amp. In my eyes, it ruins the amazing tone of my EMG pick-ups. Not to mention, the thing is built poorly and the pain got chipped a bit when I dropped it. The way they build it is kinda bulky for such a small 'pocket' pod. Why is it called a pocket pod if i can't fit it in my pocket! I would never recommend anyone to buy this.

I'm a 30-year pro player and recording engineer and I own one of these units, along with several other modelers and some sweet tube amps. For a little over 100-bucks, the Pocket POD was a sweet deal, imo. I'm sure, as usual, the people who are giving crappy reviews haven't taken the time (or do not have the talent) to tweak on the presets. Not every preset can be GOLD for every guitar or every player, folks! I've used this unit to record direct, play live, and also as a bit of a "sweetener" an effects unit between my guitar and amp. Sure, the X3 might be better in some instances... but it's WAY more expensive! If you want nothing but the BEST modeler, check out tube driven models like the Vox Tonelabs, or the older Digitech Rp-14 (which I have in my studio)... but they'll set you back WAAAYYYY more coin, and you can't just toss 'em in your gig bag with some rechargeable AAA's and a set of ear buds so you can play during lunch at work! As for "chipping the paint" when you dropped it... DON'T DROP IT!! Bet the paint would chip on your GUITAR if you dropped IT, TOO, DUMBASS!!!

I was thinking about getting this, but now that I've read the reviews, I'm gonna wait for the new PocketPod to come out.

That comment was posted in 07 so by now a new version probably came out.

yo i have a pocketpod and its pretty sweet. All i need is for someone to help get a really good tone out of it. Maybe something that sounds like metallica. This thing is cool but i could use some advise. I looked on the custom tones site and all those seemed to be cheep. Maybe i should try w/ my amp tho.

I had mine for a week and it already broke. For 100.00 and something bucks you would think it would be a lot more sturdy...

Im looking for a multi effects unit that is small in size so I can take it on the road (Not to gig unfortunelty) as I have taken a job that involves travelling the country so I would use it with headphones in my hotel room. Also considering the Korg Pandora Px4 which I was playing with recently at Musiclive.

The only thing that is swaying me towards the Pocket Pod is I have a Spider II 112 amp so would hope it would be almost the same in use/tone.
