Sound: This show was possibly the best one I've experienced so far. It was sad to see the band so far past their own adolescense; Tony Cadena's voice has lost some of its signature snottiness and Steve Soto has put on some weight, but this didn't affect their performance at all. One surprising thing was that they featured a 16-year-old guest guitarist. He definitely looked like he was having a blast onstage, and he's so lucky to have that experience. // 9
Perfomance: The crowd responded very enthusiastically to the band, making it an excellent pit to be a part of. Their set was mostly made up of songs from their self-titled album. Some songs that were especially well-recieved were Creatures, L.A. Girl, Kids of the Black Hole, I Hate Children, and of course Amoeba. // 10
Impression: The show took place in Chicago at the Beat Kitchen on August 5. The two opening acts were The Vacancies and The Street Dogs. The Vacancies' performance was not very exciting; they lacked the ability to get people moving in the pit and the banter they made with the crowd seemed cheesy and forced. The Street Dogs, however, were a different story. They opened their set with an excellent cover of Black Flag's "Rise Above", and kept their high energy throughout the whole performance. Another excellent part of the show was the venue. The Beat Kitchen is the perfect size; cozy and friendly, but not cramped. We were able to come into contact with some very cool people Who I hope to see at future shows. // 10
