The show was a blast, a collection of songs to keep the crowd screaming all night long and Myles is turning into one hell of a frontman.

Sound: As always Myles voice sounded great, he wasn't hitting all his high notes but it's understandable that his voice needs to be conserved a little. Mark made up for it with some excellent backing vocals, especially in songs like 'Rise Today' and 'Open Their Eyes', his voice has really evolved with the release of their newest album. The guitar playing was flawless from both, Myles showed of his lead guitar abilities by ripping out the solo in 'Isolation' and you could see how much fun he and Mark had bouncing riffs off each other. Brian's bass was difficult to hear through heavy distortion in the packed arena but Scott's drumming was very smooth and held the pace of the setlist very nicely. Newcastle's 02 academy venue is a little small for the heavy riffs and twin guitar efforts of Alter Bridge, the distortion seemed to echo a lot throughout the hall - not that it bothered the sold out audience! I'm gonna give the sound an overall 8 out of 10, only let down by the quality of the sound in the venue. I have seen few bands live with the musical proficiency of these guys and their sound is so unique and superb. // 8

Perfomance: The show was a blast, a collection of songs to keep the crowd screaming all night long and Myles is turning into one hell of a frontman. There was not one moment of the show when he didn't have the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. The whole arena got involved in a sing a long during 'Open Their Eyes' and during the Encore Myles came out to perform an Acoustic version of 'Watch Over You' which almost reduced many in the crowd to tears. With songs like this and 'In Loving Memory' Alter Bridge emit so much raw emotion to the crowd that even if you didn't know the songs you would find yourself becoming involved and moved by the performance. The guys were always talking to each other and making conversation with the crowd, making us laugh, telling us stories and telling us how happy he was to be there. You really see that these guys love what they do and the performance conveyed that, almost a two hour set and there was not one criticism from anybody at that show. Another great feature of the concert was their setlist, although they were touring to promote a new album the setlist was made up (very evenly) of songs from all three albums, making it seem like a greatest hits tour. Al in all, the performance was easily a 10 out of 10. // 10

Overall Impression: Newcastle, 02 Academy on Sunday 17th October 2010. A young band from London called 'Slaves to Gravity' were the opening act and did very well considering the anticipation for the main act was huge. They weren't as heavy as AB but they set the stage nicely and got everybody in the mood. Tickets were 16-19 which makes this the most value for money concert I think I've ever been to when you consider I saw just over 3 hours of great live music and the crowd was brilliant and energetic. The only downside of the entire show was having to sit on the balcony because the floor sold out so quickly! It was a non stop mosh and you could see Myles and the guys loving the energy and enthusiasm from the crowd. The best part came after the show when I first saw the video for 'Isolation' and discovered I'm in it as the video was recorded during their entire UK tour, I get to be in AB's history forever, pretty awesome! I'll definitely be catching these guys at Download on their next trip to the UK, I suggest you guys do the same, unmissable, 10 out of 10. // 10
