Sound was nice and loud, but also clear. You could tell which drums were being hit, at perfection. Vocals were all around good, sounded much like the studio and sometimes a bit better.

Sound: Myles Goodwyn (vocals, guitar), Jim Clench (bass, vocals), Jerry Mercer and Brian Greenway (vocials, guitar). All of their instruments were EQ'd properly. Sound was nice and loud, but also clear. You could tell which drums were being hit, at perfection. The harmony parts of the songs sounded really kick-ass like in the beginning of Sign of the Gypsy Queen. Vocals were all around good, sounded much like the studio and sometimes a bit better. // 9

Perfomance: The performance was awesome, especially for a group that is 35 years old! It was note per note, pretty much. Jerry Mercer's 6 minute drum solo with the whistles and kazoo was freakin' good since that guy is like 66. They played the favorite April Wine classics and some of the newer stuff. Some of the classics they did: Roller, Sign Of The Gypsy Queen, Just Between You And Me, I Like to Rock. A big surprise to most of the fans, was that Myles had announced that he was going to play things from a new album that was going into mastering this week. The songs were pretty good. // 10

Overall Impression: The show was at the Spectrum in Montreal, Canada on Dec 9/05. The show itself was awesome but I have to give it a 9 because of the opening act, Tricky Woo. I never heard of these guys, they're probably locals. They were pretty good, sounded a bit like Kiss vocally, but the songs were just too long and repetative, the fans were mostly thinking "Where the hell are April Wine already". The price for the ticket was so much cheaper than the performance was worth, It was $29 Canadian. For those that are in America, $25US. During the encore, Myles gave a speech about his son being diagnosed with Type I diabetes, he also interacted with the crowd a bit about it talking about the experience of knowing how it feels. Overall, a very nice show marking the return of an old but still powerful group. // 9
