USA (Waterloo), March 24, 2009 Review

artist: black label society date: 03/27/2009 category: live concerts

The sound was almost well balanced, the vocals could've used a little more power, but I was standing right in front of the stage, so I have to take into consideration that I probably wasn't getting the correct mix.

Sound: The sound was almost well balanced, the vocals could've used a little more power, but I was standing right in front of the stage, so I have to take into consideration that I probably wasn't getting the correct mix. Either way, the whole band is extremely skilled, and lived up to my expectations musically. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they brought a piano on tour instead of playing In This River with the guitar arrangement. // 9

Perfomance: This was their strength. The performance was brilliant, and I was in heaven for the whole show. Seeing Nick give his devil horns, and Zakk's guitar solos. It was definitely an awesome experience. The crowd reaction was nothing short of nuts, which is impressive, because of the long setup time, and the fact that the audience HAD to have been tired from Sevendust and Dope, who were also insane. Everyone seemed to be having a blast. They had a banner in front of the stage to drop at the start of the show, it went on without a hitch. I also liked the banners of Dimebag Darrell during In This River, and the siren lights at the beginning and during Stillborn. I can't remember every song they played, because I was too busy going ballistic, but the ones I remember for sure are Suicide Messiah, Stoned And Drunk, Black Mass Reverends, In This River, Stillborn, Destruction Overdrive, Genocide Junkies, and Concrete Jungle. // 10

Impression: The show was 3/24/09 at McElroy Auditorium in Waterloo, Iowa. The openers were Infinite Staircase, Dope, and Sevendust. Dope and Sevendust were great, Infinite Staircase had some issues with technical problems and such, so it's hard to judge if they're usually good or not. Their show on the 24th wasn't fantastic, though. The ticket was about 35 dollars, and it was most definitely worth the money. The only negative part of the show was the absurdly long wait for Black Label to set up. I think they were having problems with speakers and stuff, from what I saw. Either way, it was far too long. I'll definitely be going to the next BLS show I can get to. // 2
