Sound: After 24 years Bon Jovi certainly haven't lost their touch. It was a truly amazing performance. The music they played was almost completely flawless. They were playing for about 2 and a half hours in total and Jon Bon Jovi's voice hardly wavered once. He did, however, get a break when Richie sang Just Older. Apart from that, the band only got about a 5 minute break in the entire performance. They were going for a long time, especially since (for once) it was a warm day in Ireland. And besides, they were playing so well you could let him away with the occasional waver. The music they played was outstanding. The guitar solos were amazing and the rhythm and keyboards were equally perfect. They had a lot of instruments going at once, which I was quite surprised at. In the new album there is only 4 band members shown. On stage there were 7; vocals and guitar (even Jon had a go at playing a guitar solo), lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, drums, key boards and synth. With that many you'd expect them to make good music, and they didn't disappoint. The only thing, I feel, that let them down in the whole concert was; despite having I don't know how many watts of speaker behind them, they struggled with some of the high notes. Occasionally when the vocals or guitars got too high, the speakers started crackling a bit. This only happened a few times in the whole concert though, so it wasn't too much of a problem. Overall, the sound was pretty damn good! // 8

Perfomance: What would you expect? The audience loved them. I was surprised that they didn't do anything particularly unusual when on stage. Jon walked around the platform which went through the Golden Circle but that was about it. They did very little talking, (I'm not complaining though, more songs). The only thing they did was just something weird; Jon said he had a time machine with 80,000 seats and he'd take us back to 1982. He then started counting down years. As he got closer to 1982 he started shouting them and waving his arms around. It was, different. I was quite surprised at the songs they played. I was expecting quite a few from the new album but they only played 3; Last man standing (the opener), Have a Nice Day and Who Says You Can't go Home and they played no songs off Bounce. It seems instead, as well as playing a lot of older songs, they played Brand New ones. Some of the songs they played it seemed no one in the entire stadium knew. They did at least play all their really famous ones, and my favourite, Dry County. The visuals were also amazing. The whole back of the stage lit up, along with all of the regulars flood lights and lasers. They also had a high quality screen right in the middle of the back wall which helped a lot if you were further away from the stage. // 10

Overall Impression: It was in Croke Park, Dublin on the 20th May '06. Croke Park is a really great venue. I was at the U2 concert there as well. It holds about 80, 000 I think. It was opened by Nickelback and Jaded Sun. They were just as good as Bon Jovi. If they had had use of the screens and more time on stage I think they may have been better. My favourite bit was probably when they played Dry County, especially the solo. I love that song. Also all of the visual effects were outstanding. 3 great groups, 1 great venue. It was totally worth 45 and I'd definitely go again. // 10
