Sound: This was my second time seeing Disciple (the first time being the same year in April, opening for Skillet). This headliningshow by Disciple was MUCH better. I've gotten into their music and have not let go since. They played songs from Southern Hospitality, Scars Remain, and the self-titled (opening with Rise Up). The sound quality of the venue was PERFECT. It was a small theater, so there was none of the reverb to drown out or dull the instruments. I even got to get a high five from the guitarist while he was on stage. // 10
Perfomance: With an audience of 350~ people, Disciple could not have done better. The entire audience was engaged, and they opened up the front area of the theater as a mosh pit area (which almost never ceased throughout the concert). I can't remember every song, but here's what I can come up with.
01. Rise Up: this was the opening song. Excellently done, and can actually be found on youtube.
02. Scars Remain: this song is HEAVY live. There was nothing about this song that didn't scream to the crowd "mosh!" Screams were perfect.
03. Game On: as their most poular song, this song got everybody up and moving, singing (rapping?) along. Couldn't have been done better.
04. After The World: meh. I never liked this song to begin with.
05. Whatever Reason: YES. The one Disciple ballad that I like. It's just perfect, and actually made me cry.
and finally...
06. Regime Change: this song got everybody PUMPED. I yelled before the solo that everybody tackle me in the mosh. And they did. I got a mild concussion from it, and couldn't even see very well. But it was the most fun I've had in a while. // 9
Impression: The show was in Enid, Oklahoma, at the College Center. It was on Halloween Night, October 31st, 2009. Remedy Drive opened up for Disciple. I guess that they were alright, but they're far too poppish for my tastes. No mistake, they could sing very well. I hated nothing about the show except that no drinks or food were served. The ticket only cost $8, which was exceptional considering it was one of the better concerts I've been to. The most unforgettable moment of the show? When I met the singer from Disciple, and got to tell him that their song "Phoenix Rising" reminded me of the tragic loss of my best friend. The next time Diciple comes anywhere NEAR me, they can expect to see me in the crowd! Disciple, you have yourselves a lifelong fan! // 10
