Sound: Incredible singer, phenomenal band. Jan 18th, 2013 Edge Of Paradise rocked Portland OR at the Mt. Tabor Theater with Live Undead and Dio Rising. What a kick a-s night, this was a real treat!
Being a metalhead my whole life, I've seen a lot of great bands just before they broke through, including Van Halen (now you know I'm old) and Edge Of Paradise belongs in that category without a doubt. Not a lot of original bands out there with such a developed and solid sound. Melodic and catchy hooks, cool riffs, ripping solos, rocking grooves, killer vocals, this band's got the songs, the musicianship and definitely go the singer. Drop dead gorgeous young woman with a stunningly powerful voice. As she stated a bit shy, that she had the flu, and lost her voice, I don't know because belting those high notes, I haven't heard most singers do, and most of us would be sleeping in bed, rather then daring to rock the stage like that with a flu!
The band sounded phenomenal, guitarist is a master of his instrument, the band is tight and rockin. // 10
Perfomance: The band played an hour set, including some classics Iron Maiden's "Trooper" and "Children Of The Damned", that they nailed! However I must say, the highlights of the set were their original songs.
02. Thrown It All Away
03. Long Live Rock N' Roll
06. Walk The Line
08. Children Of The Damned
09. Saints Of LA
10. Break Away
What I love about the singer is that she is incredibly sweet and personal wen connecting with the crowd, however when she starts the songs, the whole world around her changes and we are drawn into it! Amazing!
The band didn't have much of a stage set up, and I didn't mind it at all, I was plenty happy just staring at the singer and thinking how can somebody be so damn gorgeous. The guitarist and the bass player were a high energy duo that kept the show rockin. The guitarist is a mix of Yngwie and the great Eddie Van Halen! It was awesome to hang out with the band after the show, great people! // 10
Overall Impression: Portland, OR, Mt. Tabor Theater January 18th. Lineup of the show:
Edge Of Paradise
Loved the show, great music, great people! The tickets were $10, alcohol was relatively cheap, the night was definitely worth it! Worth every penny! The most memorable moment from the show is when the singer, Margarita was belting out those unearthly high notes! I will definitely catch their next show when they are coming through again even if I have to make a drive! I'm a very excited for these guys, there is a very bright future waiting for them! // 10
