Sound: At the start of the show, the sound was relatively low. For the first band that played, Ala the Smash-Up, the sound wasn't too great. It was extremely low, and I couldn't make out a word the singer was saying. Perhaps it was because he wasn't that great of a singer? Or maybe it wasn't his fault. I guess I'll never know, eh? It picked up a bit with the next few bands, Sanctity and Into Eternity, then just exploded with Overkill. Everything just got turned up louder, and that just made it so much better. The only part of the sound I didn't like was during Opeth's "Ghost Of Perdition". The bass was turned up too loud, I suppose. It was mellow. More prog than death metal, which wasn't exactly what I wanted at that point. // 9
Perfomance: I loved every band that played. I'm not a Lamb Of God fan, but they really impressed me with their show. Their singer has very nice stage presence, which including climbing on stuff and getting down near the fans. I think he even slapped some high fives. I wasn't impressed visually with the second stage bands. I wish they would have dressed them up a bit. They played on a stage, with the exception of Overkill, with a bunch of drums in the way. The lights were on during Into Eternity's set, which kind of took away from the whole experience. The pyros from Megadeth's set were extremely hot and really nice to see. I'll now give a few songs from each set. And comment on them.
Into Eternity. Splintered Visions - oh God the intro is so sweet. The only song that I really knew from them. They were unreal though. The singer had a King Diamondesque screech which made it so much more awesome.
Overkill. Necroshine - one of the highlights of the show. This was the song that really got the show going. The intro was just awesome, so many flashing lights and fog and then they played it perfectly. Oldschool - this was the one I was waiting for. Amazing song, they played it great Live. Fun to sing along with. F--k You - this is the song they ended with. Overkill rock, man, that's really all I can say.
Arch Enemy. Their entire set was amazing. I can't comment on the individual songs because none stand out, in my mind, and every single song was awesome. My favorite set of the night. I just lost my mind when they came on. Nemesis, Dead Eyes, I Am Legend/Out For Blood, We Will Rise and possibly a few more, just incredible, incredible band.
Opeth. They only played four songs, but each was great. Ghost Of Perdition was kinda.. not as heavy as I would have liked it, but that's okay. Damnation was incredible, as was Leper Affinity. And then they played Deliverance. One of the best songs played that night. Amazing set, but I was really warm throughout.
Lamb Of God. Not really up for their material. I know they played Redneck, which was an awesome song. And I heard a new song I liked: Something to Die For. It was pretty sweet. They did this thing with the bass which shook the Bell Center. Killer on the ears, but an awesome effect.
Megadeth. Second favorite act of the night. Played for around an hour and twenty minutes. An hour of twenty minutes of greatness. At the end of Holy Wars, I couldn't talk, my head hurt, my neck was sore, and I almost threw up in the middle of the endless moshpit that broke out. They played an amazing set. She Wolf, Trust, Peace Sells, Symphony, Holy Wars, Blackmail the Universe (which intro was amazing), Take No Prisoners, A Tout Le Monde (which was a nice surprise, dedicated to the people who were harmed in the Dawson college shooting, as apparently this is the last song the bastard listened to before doing it. Dave also made a special dedication to him, saying he was deffinetly not a true 'Deth fan, and that he hopes he burns in hell for a long time). Then, going way back to Killing..., they played Mechanix. I almost cried when they played it, considering it is rated very, very high on my favorite Megadeth song list. Very high. And half way through it, they broke into Holy Wars. Great time. // 10
Impression: The show was played in Canada, in Montreal, Quebec at the Bell Center. It took place on the 27th of September 2006. Honestly, if I had to pick a place I wanted to live right now, It'd be Montreal. Saw the listing for concerts up there. It was amazing. In the week I was there, Dragonforce, Deicide, Red Hot Chili Peppers and some kick ass local bands played along with Gigantour, all on separate nights. I loved everything about the show. The environment was unreal, the music was great and there were tonnes of cute chicks. The tickets cost 60 dollars, for general admission. Worth every penny, infact, worth way more. I'd go see most of these bands again. Hell, I'd go out of my way to see most of these bands again. Especially Arch Enemy. They were incredible in concert. Go see them. Now. // 10
