Sound: The guitar and drums sounded good, the guitar sounding like in the studio. Sometimes you could hear the plectrum bouncing on the bass guitar strings, which was quite annoying... Brandon Flowers delivered a good vocal performance, altough his voice sometimes went over the top.
The show wasn't very loud, due to health & safety restrictions of the festival. I saw the Rock Am Ring broadcast of The Killers afterwards, and the sound was crappy there and the audience was quite boring, so I guess Ive been quite lucky with their performance at Rock Im Park. // 9
Perfomance: Really good performance. The maybe 20.000 people watching Marilyn Manson instead, really missed a brilliant performance. Good job I bought tickets.
01.Human: as expected, everybody singing along with it, not my favourite song, but still very good. 9/10
02.Somebody Told Me: good one, once again everybody singing and jumping. 10/10
03.For Reasons Unknown: sadly I didnt know the lyrics until I came home and listened to it again... The audience just let The Music soak in, its now one of my favourite songs. 9/10
04.The World We Live In: good, but I can't quite remember this one, not the standout track. 8/10.
05.Bling (Confession of a King): one of my favourite songs,(since then?) 9.5/10
06.Joy Ride: just like "The World We Live In" cant remember too much of it, 8/10.
07.Shadowplay: I didn't expect this one, but im glad they played it. Quite a lot of jumping in the crowd. 9/10
08.Smile Like You Mean It: The synthisizers sounded a bit muddy on this one, but still everybody enyojed it, big sing-a-long. 9.5/10
09.Spaceman: I really enyojed this one, a lot of jumping and singing at the beginning, good performance. 10/10
10.This Is Your Life: I can hardly remember this one...so in others words not a standout..-> 7/10
11.A Dustland Fairytale: the audience basically just listened to that song, I still liked it. 9/10
12.Sam's Town: I didn't expect this one either, this was one of the standout tracks, really powerfull performance. 10/10
13.Read My Mind: really soulfull performance, passionate, loved it. 10/10
14.Mr. Brightside: ah yeah, another standout track, everybody jumping and singing, another brilliant performance from the band.10/10
15.All These Things That I've Done: yet another standout, probably 50.000 people singing "I got soul, but I'm not a soldier"...very good, again 10/10.
16.Encore: Jenny Was a Friend of Mine: I was really looking forward to that song, I expected this one to be one of the standouts, but it was "just" a good performance.Throughout the song you could hear the plectrum bouncing on the bass strings...
17.When You Were Young: the standout track of the evening, if not the standout track of the festival (with Billy Talents "Red Flag"). Brilliant, powerfull & soulfull performance...The song everybodys beeing waiting for. 11/10
The stage was decorated with palms, and the typical "K" at the stage front with the synthisizers behind it. Even the guitar & bass amps were decorated with neon tubes. Best of all, The Killers had brought a huge videoscreen with them, together with the light effects there was a dazzling visual performance. // 9
Overall Impression: The gig took place in Germany, Nuernburg, at the Rock im Park festival on the center stage. The opening acts were Placebo (good but not great, let's say 80%), Razorlight (okay, not really my type of music), Selig (German Band(enyojable)), Juliette Lewis (crap, waste of time), Scouting For Girls(one, probably british, journalist enjoying the show), Expatriate (missed them, I came late).
The 3-day-festival ticket cost me 135... I think its ok for a festival, it was worth the money even though I already went on sunday morning missing Slipknot & The Prodigy, but I finally got to see Limp Bizki & Billy Talent, and of course The Killers. I definitely enjoyed myself, a fantastic experience, even though I went on sunday. I'd go back again if I could, and I'll try to see the next Killers concert.
My personal highlight was "When You Were Young", altough I'm quite annoyed not asking the girl next to me for her phone number... The 2nd stage was crowded (Marilyn Manson played) at the time The Killers played, and even tough not everyone likes The Killers, the people watching Manson missed the best act of the festival (my friends included...). // 9
