It was a fantastic experience and I would recommend anyone into EDM or New Wave music should see them live. Because it's just plain awesome!

Sound: For those who are not aware, Kraftwerk are the musical group that essentially created the genre of music known nowadays as Electronica. These guys have been making dark, haunting and strangely danceable tunes for a period of forty-five years, as well as influencing some more successful artists, like Joy Division. The band members themselves cite the Beach Boys as a major influence on their style and rhythms and the weirdest part is you can somehow feel the underlying vibe of 1960's pop rock on Kraftwerk's most popular song, the twenty-five minute long "Autobahn," which happens to be the title track to their debut record. // 10

Perfomance: Well, one thing I would like to say is that it was a 3D concert, meaning that I had to wear one of those odd little cardboard pairs of 3D glasses, which I actually didn't really expect. Another important thing to know is that Kraftwerk is not a "band" in the traditional sense, they are four guys all playing synthesizers. They also don't really seem to move during the performance, other than their hands. For as irregular as this show was, I liked it a lot. Kraftwerk played everything in their musical history that could qualify as a hit song: "Autobahn," "The Model," "Radioactivity," "The Man Machine," "Tour De France," and what seemed like about ten other songs over the course of exactly two hours. // 10

Overall Impression: Kraftwerk performed at the Fox Theater, Oakland, California, United States, on March 24th, 2014. As with the previous concert I attended (Manowar), there was no opening act and like that concert, the performers were about half an hour late, however, in this case, there was no mood music of any sort, you just had to sit and wait while staring at a curtain, with shifting color band logo. The tickets cost $65 plus service fees and yes, it was totally worth it. Why? Because the moment Kraftwerk began their set list I could tell, these guys are serious, devoted to their art. It's real. I will say, I hate the fact that they showed up late, but it was still a fantastic experience and I would recommend anyone into EDM or New Wave music should see them live. Because it's just plain awesome! // 10
