Sound: The sound of this show was killer! It was my first Modest Mouse show and it was completely different than what I was expecting. The group had such a full, heavy sound with great tone. Many of there songs packed a certain punch that I instantly knew was missing from the albums and could only be captured live. The entire place was filled with energy and good vibes. // 10
Perfomance: This was only my 4th concert and it easily was as good if not better than the others (2 DMD shows and Five Iron Frenzy). The crowd was really into the show as well. There was lots of crowd surfing going on, eventhough it was strictly forbidden. There were lots of people trying to get on stage (and lots getting pulled away by security). The set was as follows:
01. dramamine
02. Black Cadillacs
03. Paper Thin Walls
04. Interstate 8
05. Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes
06. Ocean Breathes Salty
07. Satin In A Coffin
08. Bukowski
09. Wild Pack Of Family Dogs
10. The View
11. Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice On Ice
12. Float On
13. The Good Times Are Killing Me
14. Cowboy Dan/The Devil's Workday
Encore:
15. World At Large
16. Custom Concern
17. Bury Me With It
As you can see, the setlist constisted of many songs from "Good News..." but I was pleasantly surpised to here some earlier stuff (Dramamine was a kickass intro). // 10
Impression: The show was at the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, MT USA on May 30, 2005. The band Camper Van Beethoven was the opener (they do the "Take The Skinheads Bowling" song). One of the great moments of the show was when some girl surfed onto the stage and kissed Isaac Brock on the cheek before fighting off security and disappearing back into the crowd. I loved this show and it was definetely worth the $30 and drive from Wyoming. This was one of the greatest shows ever and I can't wait to see them again. // 10
