Sound: The Muse sound is a strange one, but the gig itself was an interesting blend of beautiful piano work and heavy, distorted noise - the combination of which has become Muse's trademark. For the trio Who began in nearby Teignmouth, this was something of a homecoming, with the added factor of it being the final gig of the tour. Sadly, the guys don't like it down here, and the set itself was unchanged. However, the sound itself was good, and whilst Muse are nowhere near being my favourite band, it was certainly enjoyable. // 8

Perfomance: The performance at this gig is one I have never seen bettered. Everyone knows about the huge, white balloons, stuffed full with confetti, and the smaller black balloons which were released one or two songs before the finale. There were alse confetti dispensers that went off at the perfect time - as "Stockholm Syndrome", the closing track, went from fast to slow right at the end. Overall, a gig with outstanding effects, and a great performance. The setlist was as follows: -Introduction -Apocalypse Please -Hysteria -New Born -Sing For Absolution -Thoughts of A Dying Atheist -Citizen Erased -Piano Interlude -Space Dementia -Sunburn (piano version) -Butterflies And Hurricanes -Endlessly -Micro Cuts --Muscle Museum -Time Is Running Out -Plug In Baby [pointless break] -Blackout -Bliss -Stockholm Syndrome The performance was very good, and each song was played as well as on the CD. However, I was extremely disappointed at the omission of several classics, such as "In Your World", "Dead Star", "Showbiz" and "The Small Print". For this reason, it was let down. // 8

Overall Impression: The support acts, Talula and Elbow, seemed unwanted and out of place. This was a shame, because Talula weren't all that bad. Elbow, however, were about as well received as a knife to the groin. The huge cheer after they had left was not for their set, which was, well, boring, but for their departure. Muse more than made up for this however, and it was generally a good night, involving copious amounts of moshing and alcohol - for some people, both at the same time. I would go again, but only if the price was right and they were fairly close. If they had played those four songs I listed above, then it would have been better. // 8
