Sound: The sound was impressive. Quadraphonic sound, 5.1 surround, everything was in it's place. No instrument sounded muddy. Each and every one of the musicians were great and played their instruments like real virtuosos. Roger's voice was as great as it was back then with Pink Floyd, and his touring band (Snowy White on guitar, Andy Fairweather-Low on guitar and vocals, Dave Kilminster on guitar and vocals, Jon Carin on keyboard and vocals, Graham Bond on drums, Harry Waters on Hammond organ, Ian Richie on saxophone and Katie Kissoon, PP Arnold and Carol Kenyon on backing vocals) is as perfect as one would want. // 10
Perfomance: As you entered the stadium, you saw a giant scenography which consisted on a bottle of scotch, an empty glass and an old radio. Turns out it was a screen, and at the beginning of the show a hand appeared and changed radio stations, finally tuning it to a station and the band comes in and starts playing "In The Flesh". The screen would show images related to the songs, such as the hammers in "In The Flesh" and such. The other songs played in the first part were "Mother", "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", "Leaving Beirut", "Perfect Sense", "Southampton Dock", "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", "Have a Cigar/Wish You Were Here" (with the radio effect and all) and "Sheep", which was particularly awesome as the inflatable pig flew over you with political messages written all over it. Fireworks were launched, fire came out the sides of the stage, it was magnificent.
After "Sheep", the band took a 15 minute break, and then they played the whole Dark Side of the Moon album. In every song, there was a moon in the screen that changed colours according to the song. On "Breathe" and "Money", Dave Kilmister took vocal duties, and the vocal solo in "The Great Gig in the Sky" was handled by Carol Kenyon. New sound effects were added to "On the Run", and the quadraphonic sound made you feel like you were inside the action. During "Brain Damage", the album cover's prism was formed with laser, while a beam of white light entered on one side and a laser containing every colour of the rainbow exited on the other. The prism started rotating, so that the white beam of light went through the tribunes and after that the laser sort of "scanned" them. It was perfect.
The band appeared to leave, but then they came back on stage with the "Instituto River" choir to play the encores: "Vera", "Bring the Boys Back Home" and closing with "Comfortably numb". // 10
Impression: Without any doubt, it was the best gig of my life. It was in Estadio Monumental, in Buenos Aires Argentina on Sunday the 18th of March, a date I shall never forget. There were no bad moments at the show, it was like a dream. The ticket costed $40 (120 argentinian pesos), and I have to say those were the best spent $40 ever. The image of the flying pig flying over me and the feelings I experienced during that show will remain in my mind forever. // 10
