Sound: The biggest Christian band get tour in the world is unquestionably Winter Jam, and this year it featured big names like Third Day, Newsong, Newsboys, and more. It was a lot of different sounds. The southern-Christian-rock of Third Day, the pop-alternative-Christian of Nesboys, the hard rock Chistian of Fireflight, and the pop of Robert Pierre; I mean it was a lot of genres. It was amazing to see that many Christians in one room. Incredible. // 9
Perfomance: Although Third Day was expected to take the show, Newsboys was unarguably the coolest. From bungee jumping off a platform to doing the Jerk all over the stage, they were real performers. My church went without hardly knowing who Newsboys were, now were enormous fans. The audience loved all the bands in the show, but here's my comments on them:
Third Day: I expected them to be the best, but they really weren't amazingly better than the other bands. Their lead singer sounds incredibly like Travis Tritt, except his hair is grown out like a caveman. They performed their well-known songs and newer songs and really did good. Newsboys: As stated before, the energy was incredible. I think getting a black lead singer was a good idea (no racism). The guy could really Jerk, it was really cool. He also did a bungee jump off a platform, that was awesome! I'm really into their music now. Born Again rocks! Fireflight: The hardest rock at the concert was them, which I guess was good. Unbreakable was one of their best songs. Tenth Avenue North: By Your Side's the only song I knew by them before. Still, they were pretty good. Their a growing act, they'll get big pretty soon. Newsong: They started Winter Jam as headliners, but they're starting to be beat out by other acts. Still, they were good. Revive: New band. They'll eventually get good, I hope. I wasn't that into them. Robert Pierre: Another new guy. Not a big fan of how pop he is. I don't like it much. Sidewalk Prophets: These guys are getting big and getting big fast. I really liked their music. // 9
Impression: The Macon Centerplex in Georgia was full of Christianity during this show. Although Third Day and Fireflight were good, Newsboys stole the show. Their just that good. Can't wait till next year. The price of $10 was a steal for this show. It rocked.
