Features: New product made in Woodstock NY of all places. This is a totally unique capo that allows you to capo individual strings! Made of molded hard plastic and steel. This is not a spring clamped on capo, rather it has a thumb screw and fastens like a bar clamp. Leather pads help to minimize any marks on your finger board binding. The individual string capos are easily adjusted to their individual string. The alternate tunings that you can make are nearly endless, and you can do it as you are playing! I am still working with it and having fun just messing around for now. The do offer plastic sleeves to install on the lever end to act as string mutes as well. // 8

Sound: This could open a whole new world for some players! Imagine being able to change tunings on the fly! You can play on either side of the capo when it is installed and only capo certain strings. I am still experimenting with it and am very happy with the results so far. Their website has some videos of guitarists using this product, one guy using 2 of them at once! I keep saying that this is not for all players, but if you like experimenting with sound like I do, you will love this capo. You can go from a standard tune to a C tune by putting the capo at 4th as 044444 in a split second. I have gotten to do it rather quickly with practice. // 8

Reliability & Durability: This capo looks somewhat fragile but has proven itself a sturdy and reliable piece to add to the guitar case. All the levers operate smoothly and lock each string down firmly with no buzzing. I have only had it a month so time will tell, but am pleased with it. Matte black finish looks good, might be cool if they offered different colors. I am looking forward to experimenting more with it. Hope the company works on making it easier to attach. The thumbscrew tighten up nicely with no slippage or loosening. // 8

Ease of Use: Not the easiest thing to use and takes a little patients to learn to play with it. OH but it is so worth it. I am going to buy the string muters that slide on the lever parts. You can use it as an all string capo, but once you discover the possibilities with this little gem the doors will be wide open to you. There is a manual of sorts that is part of the packaging but they have a good website at www.spidercapo.com. It has more info and allows for some feedback from users. This is a capo you need to learn to work with and experiment with, but the reward for being patient is awesome. // 8

Overall Impression: I play a lot of different music, from jazz and blues to country and heavy metal. Being able to change tunings in seconds can be advantageous. After working with this capo for a month I find it might be difficult for your average player to find appealing. Because of the way it clamps to your guitar, I discovered it is best to set up a guitar for playing just with the spider capo. Now this may sound extreme, but when you own several guitars, and are used to having a separate guitar for doing slide work, it seemed a natural thing. All in all I am growing to love this thing and would get another if anything happened to the one I have. // 8
