The hand ground Alnico 2 magnets and moderate windings (Heavy Formvar® wire) yield a warm, sweet tone with more natural string vibration for great sustain. Players who get their distortion from the amp rather than the pickup love the APS-1. It allows them to back off the crunch and get beautiful clean tones with softer attack.

Overall it retains nice subtly warm tone in general, perfect tone balance, sustain and off course sensitivity. It improved my guitar as much as a pickup change can.

The output levels are outstanding, way too much for the clean channel on my amp to still be clean. The highs and mids are a bit nasally and overwhealm the lows.

This is a great pickup. Output is slightly higher than the stock pup. This pickup has the high-end "twang" you buy a Tele for, and it has surprisingly clear and present bass, when you want it too

This pickup is the closest thing I have encountered to a perfect 9 (because there is no such thing as a perfect 10) for standard tuned lead guitar.
