Reviewer Pete :
Also, due to this being published a bit earlier than usual (first weekend of every new month has been the norm thus far), some news related to November obviously won't get in, such as the news on DTs new album which was published about an hour after this was sent in.

be sure to include Profane Omen's new album in February

I SINCERELY AND STRONGLY RECOMMEND PROFUGUS MORTIS TO EVERYONE (now known as blackguard, as announced in this review). They are definitaly one of the best underground bands over here in Quebec. And you should definitaly check out their first album "So It Begins"...definitaly worth it

VIVE LE MÉTAL DU QUÉBEC!!! (Profugus, Cryptopsy, Quo Vadis, Last Felony, Martyr, VOIVOD)

Completely agree about Cynic. Easily the best album of the year along with Opeth's Watershed.

And luckily I'm going to see both next Tuesday!

I freakin' love Progressive Metal. However, Cynic's new album just dosen't do it for me. Then again, I never really was a fan of the band. Tinnitus Sanctus was a huge letdown. Tobias thought it would put them "with the greats". Sorry to say this Tobias, but many people would say you guys fell terribly short. Oh well, you can't win them all I guess.

thanks for the mention Pete, and i'm glad that you enjoyed the EP. me and boyan89 saw them live at a small venue, and they did a terrific show. as expected from a title like "another round" and a motto like "montreal folk metal brewery", these guys are a hell of a lot of fun. my reccomendations as well.

IMO, planetary duality was a pretty big disapointment. don't get me wrong, there's some good shit on that cd, but not as much as there was on akeldama. and the vocoder and american idol singing just annoy the crap out of me.

traced in the air was really a disappointment for me, I expected more death metal singing, as opposed to the extremely gay singing voice the singer has. Great riffs, but I can't stand his emo voice....

i was suprised that cynic go the best rating because i thought the singer was absolutely shite , the guitaring was amazing , thats all i thought about that one. what is it with people these days and black metal , how can you listen to it , it is crap. i prefer thrash to anything. METALLICA!!!!! Hell ye.

You just need to listen to the right type of black metal, its not all the same and Metallica are not the only thrash metal band around.
I am gonna look into Cynic as I have never heard their stuff as of yet.

Traced in Air was amazing. I sat in bed and chucked on headphones and listened to it for the first time. All I have listened to is Thrash, and I thought I'd try and open up a bit. I sat there, and got so into the music I started halucinating. I seriously saw faces and people moving about in my room to the music.

Schizophrenia or Awesome Album? YOU DECIDE.

I have never heard such entrancing and well flowing music in my life. I can see why this album got a 10.

I'll be looking for Planetary Duality now.

Having to decide between Planetary Duality by The Faceless, Wathershed from Opeth, and Traced In Air from Cynic is going to be one of the hardest decisions ever made.
