thank u so much for this one,
i played it by ear on my guitar but didn't know wich chords they were and i wanted to play it on my piano for a show case,
so thanks very much:D!

pretty good job ;-) thx. but an easier way to play A/Ab is like A but slide from the G string 2nd fret to the 1st. and if you mean Bm the right chord would be 224432 - slightly different ^^

Good tab mate.

The Dmaj7 should be an Amaj7 though - x02120

does anyone know the strumming patterns? if you could help it would be much appreciated as i am desperate to learn this :)
-3   March 7 2011, 10:23 am by Daisy135 |
I think in the Break there's a chord missing "Who would have know how"... I would play D
-1   April 14 2011, 11:33 am by davejsy |
As per the ver 6 of this, E sounds alot better than the Dmaj7. Greta tab though.
+2   April 18 2011, 11:05 am by poxonaor |
the A/Ab chord you've written is an Amaj7 chord

but there rest is pretty much bang on good job! :)
-17   April 25 2011, 03:28 pm by cjmorgs |
@Linzish Are you being serious asking for a strumming pattern? (a) its on a piano and (b) surely you could hear a songs strumming pattern??? do you even play the guitar?
-2   June 1 2011, 06:51 pm by kdutcher61 |
The chord you've written as A/Ab (which should be written as A/G# as it's in the key of A:) is actually a C#m/G#. It's clearly a minor chord!
-2   June 3 2011, 04:03 pm by mu11mp |
That's pretty good. It's easier played with a capo on the 2nd fret though like here: http://www.money4music.com/download.php?file=Adele_Someone_Like_You_1.text
-1   June 3 2011, 04:04 pm by mu11mp |
Oh that link didn't work. How about
this?
+22   June 25 2011, 05:14 pm by sandyp196 |
cjmorgs: dont worry i wont offend you by asking for a strum pattern lol. im guessing person who asked for this is a beginner, so ease off. lots of people learning guitar want a strum pattern. i dont see the problem myself. whats the hassle to post a simple d dudu rythm etc to help the beginners. its elitist and patronising posts like yours that put me off asking other guitarists for help with simple things when i was learning...Because when your learning you dont know how simple these things are until someone explains it!!!

instead of A/Ab it should be E
August 23 2011, 04:48 pm by peoplesgirl265 |
Abm sounds good to me instead of A/Ab :)
just guessing, don't get pissed off if I'm wrong. only been playing for a couple months.
-1   September 4 2011, 10:28 am by apexpredita |
well the strumming patter i used was down-up on the first 2 strings in a 4\4 time im not sure if its right but it sounds ok i guess

C#m instead of A/Ab sounds good to me. could be wrong
September 20 2011, 07:29 am by 2 Dollar |
well i can only apologise for the 'artist bashing' , I suppose it is irrelevant as it is about the tab. Which by the way is awful ! how its at number 2 is beyond me, but hey thats the world we live in.....oh and just to add, this isn't spam or trolling......ITS THE HONEST TRUTH :-) have a nice day
+4   September 22 2011, 02:54 pm by pauldawg1177 |
@pelipar | Arpeggiated means to pick the individual notes out of the chords instead of struming them all together. That is pretty much the simplest explanation.

As to a strum pattern. I guess that is hard to give because the song is usually done with a piano and Adele and that's it. Playing through it, I kind of like arpeggiating the verse, maybe 1 strum per chord for the bridge, and then strum the bridge either with a simple D DU U DU or I usually just make it up and sort of strum in rythm with some of the words. Hard to explain, I think.

Just thought I would take some time to help the beginners instead of making fun of them. Weren't we all completely clueless when we first picke up guitar?
-2   October 16 2011, 08:32 am by Thelittlebusker |
Does anyone know a different chord for the C#m in the break? I know this sounds lazy, but I'm a beginner trying to teach myself and I simply can't do any of the variations of C#m that I can find. Any suggestions?
+1   October 21 2011, 04:38 pm by pauldawg1177 |
The C#m and the Bm are both easiest played as Am shaped barre chords. What you could do is just play the Am shape without the barre. I would suggest getting your fingers into position for the barre, but only playing those three strings. So, instead of playing X46654 Play XX665X
I am guessing you are using the first fingering that UG lists for Bm. Doing the barre chord at the second fret will eventually be easier for you, but you could do the same thing for Bm. Instead of x24432 you could play XX443X. It will make your change from Bm to C#m easier. You just slide the same shape up 2 frets. A little hard to explain without seeing the guitar. Let me know if that helps
-7   November 4 2011, 07:47 pm by rokarokaroka |
All these top songs are so easy... This song and pretty much every single " Band " from 9 and up on UG's top 100 is either really really easy, if you learn them you will be a begginer for ever if its the only kind of songs you ever play or it just sucks for guitar sounds terrible(LITTLE wayne)... Most of these songs that are higher rated don't even have a guitar in them.. They just use lame beginner chords... I bet most of you can't even play a barchord whatsoever......
+9   November 8 2011, 10:00 am by watfordkev |
To anyone reading this who thinks they are a beginner, please try not to end up like rokarokaroka! ;-)
+5   November 9 2011, 06:19 pm by firth of fith |
Funny that rokarokaroka i must have missed you performing at the Brits this year and i cant find you on i tunes either, i mean someone so talented as yourself must be in the charts somewhere..............no cant find you anywhere oh well, by the way get in touch and i will send you 10p to phone someone who gives a toss that you can do barre chords. I hope you play guitar better than you can spell,DICK.

@rokarokarokadickinyoass 2/10. Troll harder bro.
+3   December 17 2011, 12:19 pm by itzkpanda |
For the picking part, all you have to do is play the last 3 strings (GBE) with each chord. So for example the A chord would be played like:

E------0--------0---|
B----2---2----2---2-|
G--2--------2-------|
D-------------------|
A-------------------|
E-------------------|

Why is this song top page? View bot?
+1   February 11 2012, 07:42 pm by bvuk |
@itzkpanda: Exactly right, except you also would play the bass note at first for each chord at chord change - so the A chord would then be:

E------0--------0---|
B----2---2----2---2-|
G--2--------2-------|
D-------------------|
A--0----------------|
E-------------------|
+1   March 4 2012, 12:37 pm by MyNameIsOliviaB |
I kind of feel like the A/Ab should be played as an E instead since it is easier to play :)
April 2 2012, 04:59 pm by cookiemomaallie |
I think it would be easier for begginers if you transposed down 2 half steps and put a capo on 2.
April 3 2012, 11:20 am by cookiemomaallie |
In verse 1 it`s actually "Hide from the light"
+2   April 3 2012, 11:24 am by cookiemomaallie |
@cjmorg: Why do you have to be mean? You really should find something better to do than criticize other people!
April 14 2012, 06:52 am by Ashanti77 |
wow no capo??
April 16 2012, 11:19 pm by GabbyIsHere |
Omg! I play it exactly like this too only no Dmaj7 and I change chords on different times but appart from that it's the same... -.- I posted me version too...nearly exactly the same thats why I'm now embarrassed when I found out you do the same chords... do you know how I can delete my one?
April 20 2012, 01:08 am by GabbyIsHere |
Just commenting on rokarokaroka's comment... It's actually 'barre chords', not barchords and by the way...so much for teaching us "begginers" a lesson when you can't even spell... -.-
April 25 2012, 02:50 pm by roadchord |
if you're finding A/Ab (or A/G#->right way to say it) hard.. use Amaj7 instead of E, it doesn't sound right on E.
and btw, it isn't C#m/G# it's A/G#, because on the piano, if you play the intro/verses.. it will go like this

Left Hand Right Hand
A (bass note) (note) A->C#->E ->C# [4x]
G#(bass note) (note) A->C#->E ->C# [4x]
F#(bass note) (note) A->C#->F#->C# [4x]
D (bass note) (note) A->D ->F#->D [4x]

so on the first 2 chords it plays the same chord on the right hand while only the bass(left hand) changed.

So yeah.. it's A/G#

isn't that a bit rude? Maybe they are a beginner and maybe they do not have much excperience/confidence to just go for it. Ive been playing for just 16 months. I picked up a strum pattern for this straight away without having to think about it, but I remember the in the early days I felt a bit unsure.
January 24 2013, 09:29 am by beckstarguitar |
pelipar: playing the strings in that note. So, for e.g, form the shape for a C chord and pluck the strings. You may want to pluck all the strings in that note or just 2 or 3. Remember though, always start with the base note, (for C it would be your A string ) if you don't know, pluck a few, it's usually the one that sounds right at the start of the arpeggio!

I like to play it using your posted tab but transpose down 2 steps then capo on 2 and pick chords. I find it easier to pick these chords fast.

Clearly wrong.

If you use a capo at the 2nd fret then you will find the A/Ab a lot easier to play.You would use a standard G shape then drop down one fret.All the other chords are easy as well.
