Perfect!!!!!! Thx =)

Don't really see why there's a capo, the transposed version it much easier. For those of you who don't know, just use the transpose button and select "up 5 half steps" - this eliminates the need for a capo (and having to play the Bm chord), making the song easier to play for a beginner! :)

*** I feel really stupid now, because the original is played with a capo and since there's no way to delete my above comment... whoops. great tab regardless!
January 4 2012, 07:59 pm by
@Kateigh lol! Glad you like it and I've added a note about transposing that will be on here when it updates. I usually do that anyways, just didn't this time and I get called out on it! lol!

January 11 2012, 01:59 am by
Awesome, as usual, Cristy!!
Just OONEEEE little question tho -
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE EXPLAIN THE FINGER PICKING TO ME??! :]
Sorry i yelled...
January 13 2012, 03:12 pm by
I found a good tutorial for the finger picking for the whole song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTaaWVqCFO4&feature=related
and you also have a link to the tabs in the description!
January 13 2012, 06:28 pm by
@YovelPeretz- That link is a great tutorial! I'm gonna try to learn to pick it:)
Hey everyone! Transpose this down 2 half steps and this will match the tutorial:)
Thanks for everyone rating and the nice comments:)

Beautiful tab Cristy!! :)
January 26 2012, 10:57 am by
Thank You :]
February 4 2012, 08:24 pm by
This is a great tab, the only thing i would say is change it to an A chord instead of a D, where she sings 'safe and sound'. That would be Bm, A, G. Thanks for the tab though!! :)
February 5 2012, 04:39 pm by
@jess.. I think you may be right! 'A' does sound good there:)
February 16 2012, 07:56 pm by
It sounds a little to 'happy'.
March 11 2012, 10:17 pm by
Thanks Cristy, very helpful. I like using capo on the 7th fret which makes your F chord a Fmaj7, not an F because you should have an open E string.
March 12 2012, 07:22 pm by
So good! thank you! :)
March 17 2012, 11:36 am by
I like playing this with a capo on 3 instead of 5. IDK if it's just me, but the Bm sounds really weird when I have capo on 5. Or I could be playing it wrong cause I am a beginner.
March 28 2012, 04:18 pm by
kateigh, thanks for the idea of transposing it! it made it so much easier to play!!!
March 31 2012, 05:09 pm by
this is really good! if u use the version with the capo, and play with the finger picking right, it sounds really close to the recording. If you pick the A string and the G, B, and E string at the same time, and then the G, B, and E string by themselves while the A string still rings,it sounds really close, you just play that for the length that you hold the chord.
April 12 2012, 10:02 pm by
When playing it with Capo on 5, it sounds better to play the D as D/F# :) I find it helps the transition to the next chord sound smoother.
April 17 2012, 08:36 pm by
Hey, this is great, but I do love it better on the 7th fret capo using the Dm Am F C. I like those chord compositions better and the flexibility for add on's or pull off's works great. You suggested the 7th fret capo version and it's quite nice there. I don't see that version posted yet, but it's easy to figure. Also the Safe and sound works good ending with the A chord or as in my case the G.

You're amazing Christy, this no coincidence that once again I come here hugely inspired to make a YouTube vid looking for the right tab... and it's you with the 5 stars. :) Great tab! Thanks again! :)

Strumming Pattern help?
May 20 2012, 12:57 pm by
If I wanted to sing it lower, which way would I transpose?
Great tab, btw :)
May 30 2012, 04:39 pm by
One correction... the end of the second and third choruses, the Fmaj chord is replaced with an F#dim (capo 7), or a C#dim (no capo).
That's E-2 A-0 D-4
B-1 e-x for the F#dim

I played without a capo and transposed up 5 steps. Sounds great to me. Nice job :)
July 11 2012, 06:27 pm by
I don't want to be hating or anything, but these chords seem a bit off to me.
July 11 2012, 06:28 pm by
OH SHOOT SORRY MY BAD. ^IGNORE THAT. THEY'RE PERF (:
January 12 2013, 11:21 pm by
I learned how to pick the first part from my teacher, with no sheet music. It was PERFECT! Here:
Make the shape of a D minor chord to start:
And then repeat it once. Sorry, it looks complicated, but it's really easy. (By the way, /p is pull-off and /h is hammer-on.)
Hope this helps!
January 12 2013, 11:25 pm by
this has nothing to do with the song, but those ads for the 3 Mistakes Never to Make While Playing Guitar keep popping up and I'm a sucker for those things, but I don't feel like doing all the work with my email and stuff. (Thumbs up if you agree.) Someone lease tell me what the mistakes are?!?!?!! I'm such a nerd.

Strumming pattern? Sorry, newbie here. (Btw you did a great job, love this song <3 )
February 3 2013, 03:48 pm by
For when it says safe and sound, I think it sounds better EM d g (instead of bm d g)
February 15 2013, 07:14 pm by
Perfect! but the original version is used with capo 7, so you can just use what she said about transposing to get to capo 7 if you want to play it like Taylor does. Awesome tab!
March 3 2013, 04:38 pm by
I played this with a G6 instead of G, and it sounded a lot better. Also, here's a suggestion for the end of the chorus...sounded a bit better to me:
Come morning light
A Em Bm G
You and I'll be safe and sound
So basically just change the Bm and D to Em and Bm. It sounded a bit more accurate to me. :)
March 4 2013, 01:15 am by
Thanks for your suggestions, but I'm gonna keep it how it is. If that's how you like it, then go for it :)
March 10 2013, 10:16 am by
March 19 2013, 01:07 pm by
Version 5 actually sounds the best to me
March 24 2013, 02:55 pm by
hey! great job! i have one correction, when the end of the chorus sings 'safe and sound' it is actually Am, G, D7/F# (for the
capo 7 version) :)

July 10 2013, 02:22 am by
Try playing along with the song and it helps getting the strumming down :)

July 22 2013, 06:30 pm by

July 22 2013, 06:31 pm by
does anyone know the strumming or picking pattern for this song???
July 26 2013, 12:51 pm by
This is so much easier to play as the transposed version and the chords are exactly right! Thank you!
August 14 2013, 09:52 pm by
the actual song is played with the capo on the seventh fret not the fifth. but you can play it anywhere and it will be right. but if you want to play it like Taulor put the capo on the seventh fret and click the down arrow on transpose twice.
