It's not right, try Bm, F#, D, Em, F#m
February 17 2008, 01:32 pm by
It's totaly wrong, I agree with In Black Flames.

I have no idea what it is with people, this tab is perfect!
April 20 2008, 06:50 am by
nope it's not
I agree with In Black Flame...

Throw a capo on the second fret and you're good.

People are just saying 'copy the travis version', but I think this one's better. NimbleElephant (!) is right - capo 2nd fret and you're golden. Perhaps use xx0230 instead of Dm, I can't remember what it's called but it sounds good with a bit of open e at the end.
Great tab, with capo 2nd.

the song plays great with CAPO on 2nd.

Does anyone have a suggested strumming pattern for this song?
July 12 2009, 05:44 am by
the song plays great with CAPO on 2nd. i agree
November 18 2009, 02:38 pm by
no, I disagree. Dont use the capo, just play it in Bm.
Bm F# D E F#
I don't think F#m sounds right either.
The nice thing about this is the low E chord... sounds better

capo on 2nd makes it bm, you nut.

Wow very mixed opinions on this. I think it's fine. It's just in a different pitch but it works absolutely fine.

I think that this version works well with Matt Cardle's version on British X-Factor. Epic version of song.

Capo on THIRD fret. Sounds like its in C minor to me.
March 12 2013, 02:59 pm by
Bloody hell. Stop bitching. This is fine, stick a capo on where ever you like and get on with it...
June 5 2013, 07:47 am by
transpose it two halfsteps higher, then it is perfect!
June 6 2013, 03:51 am by
Either put on a capo, or play it like Black Flame suggested. It's the same progression, just a tone higher. :) Thanks
June 6 2013, 03:53 am by
Oh and by the way, like breaktheice said, the capo is on the third fret, not the second.

Sorry for all the comments. Here's my corrections. Yours is almost correct, but there are some differences:
G Am (Just follow rhythm of the song - this intro progression actually leads into each new line of the verse)
Oh baby, baby
How was I supposed to know
Dm E (This is a major chord, not minor) G Am
That something wasn't right here
Oh baby baby
I shouldn't have let you go
Dm E G Am
And now you're out of sight, yeah
Show me, how you want it to be
Tell me baby
Dm E G Am
'Cause I need to know now what we've got
My loneliness is killing me
I must confess, I still believe
When I'm not with you I lose my mind
F C (This is another change)
Give me a sign
G Am (played on piano)
Hit me baby one more time
This should be correct. What the hell am I doing on UG fixing up a Britney Spears song? Haha. This is a low.
Just one note - the G Am progression that I spoke about isn't really all that necessary unless you're playing with a band. If you can somehow fit it in on solo guitar, try it, but the E sounds better by itself. :)

Transpose it +3 = original scale
Am = Cm and so on..
May 11 2014, 07:45 am by
It sounds better with a capo 2
November 14 2014, 12:20 pm by
listen to the song and figure it out yourself yer numpty lol
January 20 2015, 09:12 am by
Hey, great tab ! Though you missed an Em right after the Dm in the chorus (along with the backing vocals singing "still believe" another time). Otherwise perfect job, keep it up !

does any one know how to play the bridge? is it the same as the verse?
