toeffifee is right ... the D's should all be B's ... common people.

Pretty good, but there needs to be a few changes.

The D's to B's is correct.

Also, instead of playing F#/Gbm, just play an Esus4. all you have to do is drop your pinky finger down on the 3rd string, 2nd fret rather than sliding up 2 frets.

the song can be played in open E, but if you look at this tab, the chords played are the same ones played in open E. for example, playing all the strings open on Open E creates an 'E' chord. Notice in this tab that the E chord is the first chord strummed. Which, by the way...in the intro.....the (0.0.0.0) strum after the finger picking should be an E rather than strumming them open.

E..Esus4
0..0
0..0
1..2
2..2

D's to B's is right. The A's and the B's should be barre chords, and in the intro part, where the top four strings are all open it should be an E chord just played on those 4 strings. Then its absolutely perfect. Some of you guys know what you're talking about. Some well....lets not go there.
March 9 2009, 05:09 pm by sully474 |
Oh yeah, and the part where you have barred 12's and 7's are harmonics. But to make it sound right, only play them on the G, B and E string, cause they are the same as in Open E. Otherwise your harmonics will be off.

just to put this debate to rest, even if this version sounds passable to some- it is not "right". the black crowes play this in open E tuning, and the chord labelled f#/Gbm doesnt make ANY sense......at all. first of all f# and Gb are the same note. second of all you wouldn't have sharp and a flat in the same key (makes zero sense) AND when a chord is written in this way (as a "slash" chord) the first letter represents the chord, and the second note tells you what note is in the bass of the chord. single notes can't be major or minor! i will stop there. nice effort but poor execution.

I hate to break it to you guys, but most of you are either half right or completely wrong.
First off, the D should be a B.
Yes this is in open E tuning, although all you need the open tuning for is the intro and bridge, the rest of it can be played in standard.
Lastly, towards mickmarz, I don't know if the tab's been changed since you posted but I don't see a Gb anywhere on here. Something labeled "f#/Gbm" does make sense because IT IS THE SAME NOTE, just labeled by both names for it. And the F# does make sense, although it isn't a full chord.
To play it right (at least in standard tuning) hammer on the bottom F# note after the E. Listen to the song for the right rhythm.

Open E isn't required. It helps to get the actual tone, but just for basics...not necessary. There are a few different guitar tracks in the recording. You'd need 4 guitars on stage to make it sound exact. lol
Following this tab helped me to figure it out, but this tab isn't very accurate....main parts are close, though.

e|-0-0--0-0-0--0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0--0----|
B|-0-0--0-0-0--0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0--0----|
G|-1-1--2-2-2--1----12---7----1-1--2-2-2--1----|
D|-2-2--4-4-4--2----12---7----2-2--4-4-4--2----|
A|-2-2--4-4-4--2----12---7----2-2--4-4-4--2----|
E|-0-0--0-0-0--0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0--0----|

This part can easily be played by the other guitar track for that part (in the recording) [ring tones don't sound correct, but I'm not sure]

e|-0-0--0-0-0-0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0-0----|
B|-0-0--0-0-0-0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0-0----|
G|-1-1--2-1-2-1----12---7----1-1--2-1-2-1----|
D|-2-2--2-2-2-2----12---7----2-2--2-2-2-2----|
A|-2-2--2-2-2-2----12---7----2-2--2-2-2-2----|
E|-0-0--0-0-0-0----12---7----0-0--0-0-0-0----|

Try listening to the recording...this guy tabbed the intro slightly wrong.
August 7 2013, 02:09 am by lilangus |
After reading all these comments ... here's the summary...
There are more than 2 guitar tracks in the recording. You can play the entire song in either open E tuning or standard E tuning.
The way this tab is, the intro is in Open E, but other parts are tabbed for Standard E.
Just listen to the song. My previous comment with the E and Esus4 is for Standard tuning. But, for the ring tones to be correct, it needs to be Open E. So, see...to get it exactly like the recording, you'd need at least 3 guitars on stage with you. 2 Acoustics and 1 electric would sound great.
