+32   January 5 2008, 12:19 pm by conorverified |
Why does everyone keep asking for the strumming pattern? If you have ears you can hear where the chord changes in the
song... Listen = Learn
-4   January 6 2008, 02:36 am by iiiiaann |
i wanna know why the hell this song is so high, it sucks, and you cant even hear the guitar in it

sooo, like..how do you strum it? hahah cos mine keeps getting weirder..lol.
+6   March 16 2008, 06:58 am by Coronas |
the chord progression is totally correct, but you are missing one thing...

to sound just like the piano in the song, you MUST play it one octave lower. Play it while you listen to the music and you'll understand what i'm saying

capo on fret 1 and re-do the chords
March 16 2008, 06:59 am by Coronas |
4 stars for the chords, no 5 because of the octave thing =\
March 24 2008, 01:11 pm by Ritus |
You should develop your own strum patterns depending on how you feel it should go. The way I play it is to go with the beat and treat my guitar like a drum, and depending on you it may sound wrong or right.

It's kind of hard to explain how I strum but I'll try my best:
[D= Downward strum, 5th = 5th string]

Uhm; 5th-D-D-5th-Bang, this should happen for each chord. Also when beginning just ignore the 5th string then introduce it in the next chord. And when Banging, I mean hitting the guitar body, as well as the strings, this should stop most of the strings and give you the 'bang'/beat sound.

hope that made sense, anyway good job with the chords really good ^_^

Does capo 3 mean that I would put my capo on the third fret and play my chords the same?
+4   March 29 2008, 07:30 pm by Audioboxer |
Si
+3   March 29 2008, 08:06 pm by mokiloki |
thank u guys :-)
-2   April 3 2008, 05:32 pm by Coronas |
I've noticed you've changed the capo thing, but you need to re-do the chords!

now it doesn't start in Am, but in Bm... one full step down to all chords now
May 24 2008, 10:58 am by Car0le. |
I think it's good.
Maybe.
Um.. It's a little difficult to catch the strumming
cause this song hasn't a guitar..
At least no rythm guitar.
June 15 2008, 12:49 pm by jewsper |
go to youtube and search for "derek cate cover apologize" and you will notice the pattern, awesome tabs by the way!
-1   June 24 2008, 03:22 pm by ocelott |
just saw that derek cate cover. fantastic! he's got a good voice too. no capo needed for this one... well, it doesn't sound bad the way they have it here though.actually the version here is dead on as well. however i won't really try covering this too much because it's to high for my voice lol
-1   June 28 2008, 04:51 pm by FenderChick77 |
I'm using Capo 2, fingerpicking verses to sound like the piano melody and strumming chorus. Sounds great, but I'll have to work on getting the vocals down. I think this key is kind of difficult to sing in.

Great job on the chords...Thank you!
-2   July 8 2008, 03:23 am by MyChemGuitarist |
this tab sucks man, check my tab out its the correct pattern.
-1   July 9 2008, 07:22 pm by luckyshot60 |
Coronas is totally correct... every chord should be one full step down so it needs to be Bm, G, D, A. Not sure how no one else has heard this lol

+3   August 11 2008, 07:29 pm by themusician9 |
its actually capo 3. if you listen the chords dont match up right with capo 1. also i can play it on piano and translated to guitar its the same chords except capo 3.
+1   August 26 2008, 04:37 pm by punk2k6 |
this tab is correct man, but wrong capo i think! capo 3 sounds more like it using them chords, but obv if your on capo 1 you start with Bm etc. thats what i think otherwise well done =]

thanks so much :]
love this song.

Theres only one word for this - SUPERB
-1   October 28 2008, 11:33 am by paul.radwell |
Spot on....guys, if ya think its too high just transpose it! Use a capo or change the chords yourself! Its not gonna take long their are onli 4 to change! lol
November 3 2008, 01:05 am by clhatch13 |
coronas is kinda right....you do play a whole step down. but that's not an octave. an octave is all of the notes in a scale. C D E F A B C.
November 3 2008, 01:06 am by clhatch13 |
oh yah....and G.
-1   November 3 2008, 01:11 am by clhatch13 |
it also sounds perfectly fine using the chords listed if you play them all as bar chords. forget the capo.

Am: 577555
F: 133211
C: 335553
G: 355433
-1   November 13 2008, 02:32 pm by Jdrulezx |
An Octave lower is the next lower version of the note
A scale is C D E F G A B C - Latin from ESCALA meaning an upwards or downwards progression of notes - So if you played C D E F G A B C it would be playing a scale. Get it right - clhatch13 rofl.
December 20 2008, 11:32 am by spiff-corgi |
The last chord of the pattern should be B and not G. I can't believe I'm the first person to spot this.
-1   February 8 2009, 09:08 am by axeman awan |
stick a capo on 8 and play this throughout
Em 022033
Cadd9 032033
G 320033
and G1? is 200033

got it from gally042
on youtube.

Nice job, man
+2   April 7 2009, 09:16 pm by purebreadtexan |
i think that the chords are great!! but i think that the capo should be on 3 and NOT on 1. but a great tab!!
+8   May 1 2009, 03:18 pm by seamonkeyz |
yeah, capo 1st is wrong! capo 3rd is right.
you can play it:
1. without capo its: cm Ab Eb and Bb
2. with capo (3rd): am F C and G
3. with capo (8th): em C(maj7) G and D
(you can play a D/F# chord as well: 200232)
+2   May 1 2009, 03:23 pm by seamonkeyz |
actually the song is for piano and some e-guitar melodies, so there is no "right" or "wrong" strumming for the chords.
May 15 2009, 01:19 pm by sneffers |
This is really great. I agree that it sounds better with capo on 3rd but it's all good. All you who think it doesn't have guitar in it: Whatever. It's still awesome to play a song that's for piano an guitar. There is a picking pattern in a different tab if you want it, but it's easy to figure out your own.

Capo 3rd fret not first
+1   August 2 2009, 03:41 pm by shocknuttz |
this is great. just one thing tho. capo goes on 3rd fret not 1. and as for those wanting strum patterns? just listen to the song lao. not that hard to figure out
October 24 2009, 04:52 pm by rockridgeguy |
first post for me and yeah it's supposed to be on the 3rd for capo..
March 31 2010, 09:05 pm by shaynabeth |
its great. thank you

great tab!!
+1   April 19 2010, 04:00 pm by Indecisive |
I like it.

I play it with G/B (x20033) instead of G, which sounded right to me. Oh, I also play it with a capo on the 3rd fret.

For a strumming pattern, I start with:

D D
1&2&3&4&

and then on the F in the second line of the first verse ("just can't make a sound") switch to:

D D D D
1&2&3&4&

with emphasis on the first beat.

For the chorus i use the pattern someone suggested earlier:

D DU UD
1&2&3&4&

One measure for each chord.

Thanks to mokiloki for putting this up.
April 19 2010, 04:01 pm by Indecisive |
The first pattern in my comment above should be down strums on the first and third beats, not first and second.
July 15 2010, 10:51 pm by skullsdagirl |
I think the chords are great, but it needs Capo 2.
+1   July 19 2010, 01:53 pm by Elysa113 |
I think capo on the 3rd freet is the original version.
August 26 2010, 08:52 am by BenignViewer |
on the album version the chords are played as arpeggios and there is a solo/bridge bit as well. Coronas is right about the octave thing. Good tab though.

Normal tuning capo 3 sounds the best to me.
July 28 2011, 04:57 pm by daveb672 |
awesome and simple.... u can use capo on 1 or 3 to suit your vocals
August 11 2011, 06:19 am by bobdevries |
lol, me thinking im a beginner... well, away with those feeling because people are trying to teach crap to eachother... guys, its 4chord pop. dont comment. look up the chords, play them or use them to make a pop-punk/rock version of 'm, cuz thats my plan. but do not discuss strumming patterns. its pop. just do something.
February 15 2012, 07:31 pm by andrewelt62 |
yeah capo 3 is right (for one republic version)
(Cm Ab Eb Bb)
March 7 2012, 08:02 pm by guitarplaya127 |
this is really good...for a really good song :)
December 6 2012, 10:29 pm by uzihasasuke |
capo 3 makes it the same octave as the original song, besides only the chorus is high, not the verse
February 4 2013, 07:28 am by milkshake_me |
I use this strumming pattern:

Am F C G
DD UD UDD DU DD UD UDD DU

I hope it is usefull ;)
February 9 2013, 11:56 am by petrbela |

February 5 2014, 01:42 pm by amnon |
thanks :-)
March 22 2014, 02:28 am by sjimenez18 |
I played it on the piano And read the sheet music to figure it out on my own how one republic played it and the last chord in the progression is an E not a G Also to play it traditionally its on capo 3, but other than that good job on the tab.
March 22 2014, 02:29 am by sjimenez18 |
not a B, E.
March 28 2014, 08:25 am by clegrand7 |
This should be capo 3
