Awesome Chords Mate Just A Bit Wierd At The Chorus, Hard To Find A One That Sounds Best But Everything Spot On Whats Right, Thanks For Great Chords
+3   May 13 2009, 09:35 am by apimrie |
Are you playing the C5* as in 0-3-2 rather than the usual way? If you are the chorus should sound fine.
+11   May 13 2009, 09:46 am by apimrie |
Sorry I have just realised a mistake C5* has been written wrongly above it is actually:

C5*
e|-----------
B|-----------
G|-----------
D|---2-------
A|---3-------
E|---0-------

Sorry about this

A strumming pattern to this song is now posted in my blog in my profile so check it out.
-8   June 26 2009, 05:35 pm by music09 |
The Chorus is suppose to be like this:
F5 C5 Dm
One, 21 guns
C5 A#5
Lay down your arms
F5 C5
Give up the fight
F5 C5* Dm
One, 21 guns
C5 A#5 F5 C5
Throw up your arms into the sky,
A#5 F5 C5
You and I
-11   July 14 2009, 06:02 pm by lj.rock.23 |
in the chorus instead of F5 i do C and instead of C5 i do Am
-5   July 21 2009, 12:20 pm by guitargodx24 |
pretty good except its an a sharp major, not minor. if it was a sharp minor it would be a#m
-4   July 23 2009, 12:12 pm by SunburstRVG |
actually the A sharp is a B flat (wich are the same chords, but the B flat is harmonic correct)... Anyway a good job!
-5   July 24 2009, 02:48 pm by Nicdas |
I think it sounds a bit better, if you change the C5* to an F5/E.

Like that :
Chorus:
F5 F5/E D5
One, 21 guns
C5 A#5
Lay down your arms
F5 C5
Give up the fight
F5 F5/E D5
One, 21 guns
C5 A#5 F5 C5
Throw up your arms into the sky

Even then, great job !

Awesome 5* :D
August 16 2009, 02:39 pm by MarkusKoegel |
Fantastic! I agree that you can replace the D5 by Dm, since the additonally played F is the note sung by the lead voice. Keep it up, apimrie! 5*

-19   October 21 2009, 06:23 pm by Atb43 |
screw green day they all just play the same 4 chords for everything! why this song is even on the top 100 shows how dumb and horny teenagers are because they just play this song for the girls. no real guitarist plays this crap. Go play Always and Never by Coheed and Cambria if your that desperate.
+5   November 22 2009, 11:22 pm by k14ny |

please dont say bad things about one band and a really good one for the other....
It hurts the band's feelings that you are cussing about.
January 8 2010, 08:52 pm by Radman_Paiza |
@ Dogsarelife

I honestly don't think they care. They make money out of their music, most of us do not.

Great chords, sounds great on my acoustic ;)
January 20 2010, 03:21 pm by itssead |
beginner question: can someone tell me how to play this ? -1- barre of course but should i play the 3x3 with 3 different fingers or should i try using 2?

no matter what i try it rattles due to finger space problems :-)
January 20 2010, 03:22 pm by itssead |
sorry i mean the -1-,-1-,-3-,-3-,-3-,-1-
February 6 2010, 12:54 am by NORCAL |

I thought that A# chord was actually named Bb, but I suppose thats just being technical...
April 13 2010, 12:26 pm by BritishStrings |
I think the Dm sounds better as the normal open shape...

Otherwise spot on.
+2   April 29 2010, 01:30 pm by hky-guitarfreak |

it's "I'm in ruins "

Bb F5 C5

You and I

(sorry for my english, im french)
-1   May 21 2010, 01:41 pm by ori-25 |

to all the beginner guitarists that are struggling with the chorus.
A "5" chord is the proper way to say "power" chord the chords shown are 5 chords but not the way most people play them. Power chords are called 5 chords because you are playing the root note and the FIFTH note.
just in case you don't know what a power chord looks like here it is.
on the E string (root 6).

E A D G B E

I THINK THE CHORUS IS BETTER THIS WAY FOR BEGINNERS

F C/E Dm
One, 21 guns
C Bb
Lay down your arms
F C
Give up the fight
F C/E Dm
One, 21 guns
C Bb
Throw up your arms
F C
Into the sky,
Bb F C
You and I

JUST SAYING MY OPINION :d
May 16 2012, 05:45 am by redredred123 |
thanks perfect for power chords
August 12 2012, 01:44 pm by KatieRoncalli |
Instead of a Bbm on the "Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone" I play Bb, sounds just as good. Also I think the chorus that raider_ex17 posted sounds better, but other then that great tab, thanks for putting it up :)

great job! this is perfect!
August 17 2013, 03:45 am by PROJNADEEP |
The chords are perfect. Just a little mistake. After the 2nd chorus, where there is "A Major", in that verse, you have written a C Major too and also a A#m. In place of that C major, it should be A major only and in place of that A#m, it will be A# major. Otherwise, all correct.

Dm - A# - |F - C - |Dm - A# - |F - A - |
Dm - A# - |F - A - |A# - A# - |C - C - |
F .. .. ..

Sorry I'm a keyboardist so I could not provide tabs. Anyway, Thank You.

Great Chords!
February 23 2014, 05:11 pm by astodds |
Good, However there is no C5 before the last chorus.
September 26 2014, 08:53 pm by thetigerstrike |
It's just C and its major third with a bass voicing of the major third. No seventh involved.
