Eve, The Apple Of My Eye - Bell X1

This is a great song and a pretty easy one to play. They played it on the recent Other
Voices season 4 and this is the way it's played. Some of the chord names might not be
correct but they're the right chords.

Tuning E A D G B E
G (3 2 0 0 3 3)
G/F# (2 0 0 0 3 3)
Em (0 2 2 0 3 3)
Cadd9 (0 3 2 0 3 3)
C (0 3 2 0 1 0)
D (X 0 0 2 3 2)

Intro: G G/F# Em Cadd9 (x2)

G G/F#
You left it, I sent it
Em Cadd9
I want it back
G G/F#
You left it, I sent it
Em Cadd9
I want it back

C D
If I had you here, I'd clip your wings
C D
Snap you up and leave you sprawling on my pin
C D
This plan of mine is oh so very lame
C D
Can't you see the grass is greener where it rains

G G/F# Em
You left, I died, I went and you cried
               Cadd9 G
You came, I think, But I never really know
               G/F# Em
I've served my time, I've watched you climb
               Cadd9 G
The wrong incline, But what do I know

G G/F#
Accept it, Don't let it
Em Cadd9
Turn the screw
G G/F#
Accept it, And let it
Em Cadd9
Scream back at you

C D
Now this applies both equally to you and I
C D
The only thing we share is the same sky
C D
These empty metaphors, they're all in vain
C D
Like can't you see the grass is greener where it rains

G G/F# Em
You left, I died, I went and you cried
               Cadd9 G
You came, I think, But I never really know
               G/F# Em
I've served my time, I've watched you climb
               Cadd9 G
The wrong incline, But what do I know
G G/F# Em Cadd9
                            Yeah what do I know
G G/F# Em Cadd9
                            Yeah what do I know

G G/F#
In the garden Snake was a charmin'
    Em Cadd9
And Eve said let's give it a try
G G/F#
Now lead us not into temptation
Em Cadd9
But no matter how hard I try

G G/F#
When in the garden and Snake is a charmin'
   Em Cadd9
And Eve says let's give it a try
G G/F# Em Cadd9
Eve is the apple of my eye
G G/F# Em Cadd9
Eve is the apple of my eye
G G/F# Em Cadd9
Eve is the apple of my eye

G
And I lie behind you
     G/F# Em Cadd9
And cradle you in the palm of me
                   G
And I pat your hair down
    G/F# Em
I think will we sink or swim?
                  C
will we sink or swim?
C
will we sink or swim?
C
will we sink or swim?
                                G
'Cause we could do either on a whim
