THE NEW YEAR – Death Cab for Cutie
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tabbed by: A.J. Conner
Email: ajconner123@gmail.com

Tuning: Standard, CAPO 1ST FRET

I'm confident about this tabs accuracy.

Remember to use the capo on the 1st fret. All fret numbers relative to capo.
If you listen to the album, there's definitely a capo being used, but they
do not use one when they play the song live (listen to the "Studio X Sessions
EP" on iTunes, you can hear that it's a half step lower in that version).

Two guitars are in this song, the first part is the first guitar. The
second guitar's part is tabbed out at the bottom.

Make sure to use a ton of reverb. It wouldn't be a Death Cab song
without reverb. :)

I'm not sure what to call this riff, but it's pretty tough,
so we'll call it the "hard riff." Play twice.

Guitar one rests, 2nd guitar plays G and A, back and forth.
After G and A are alternated twice, guitar 1 kicks in again
with the "hard riff," and repeats it.

Eventually, the hard riff gets a variation: Play it twice.

   Guitar 2's parts:
In the first minute of the song, guitar 2 is just playing the chord
guitar 1 is playing, just not playing the arppegios or other little riffs.
Just the x5775x and 7x775x chords. At 1:04, guitar 2 comes in with some improvised
  lead, which can be variated.

G|--14----------14-------14----------14----------14--------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
When guitar 2 isn't playing this (i.e during the "hard riff") it's just
alternating between an open G chord and open A (relative to the capo).

END. I hope you'll find some use out of this.
